-Chap. 2-
We dropped Amy off at Sunny Park Elementary around 7, both, Angie and myself wondering why their mother made Amy go to
the before school daycare, when she could catch the bus. The thought quickly left my mind. Angie and I arrived at 7:10
at Coblestone High School.
“Where on earth would they come up with such a gay name for a high school?!” Angie laughed. I nodded. I was more focused
on finding a parking spot. I found one right away.
Angie and I both grabbed our bags and shut the doors to my car. We started walking towards the school, getting
quite a few nods and smiles, along with a few cutes checking us out.
“I think I’m going to like it here!” I said to Angie, laughing.
“Hey, look out!” I heard a guy’s voice say, I turned around and duck immedialtely. A football flew right above my head,
and I lost my balance, falling backward.
“I’m so sorry! Are you okay?” Someone asked me. Still sitting on the ground, very angry, I turned around to see the
cutest baby blue eyes looking straight at me.
“Um... yeah, I’m fine.”
“Here, let me help you up! I’m Nick, Nick Carter.” A very good looking blond guy, with the baby blue eyes held out his hand to help me up.
“Thanks! I’m Audree Carlson.” I said, wiping the dirt off of myself.
“Cool, nice to meet you Audree! I’d really like to apologize! I was playing catch with a couple of buddies of mine and one of them threw the ball way over to the side.”
“It’s okay, it wasn’t you fault.” I smiled at Nick. He was not only cute, but very friendly!
“Cool. So are you new around here? I don’t recognize you, and I remember every pretty face that I see.”
“Yeah, I just moved here from Rochester, New York a week ago.”
“No way! I was born in Jamestown, New York!” He said.
“Cool! I know where that is, I use to have an uncle that lived there.” I paused, and then started laughing, a very strange uncle!” Nick laughed. He had a very cute laugh also.
“Cool. Say, maybe sometime, after school or something, we could go and hang out somewhere, I could show you around the town!” Nick said, I could tell he was turning on the charm. I smiled, looking into those deep baby blue’s.
“Sure, I’d like that.”
“Okay, cool.” I heard some guys yelling his name. “I gotta go, but I’ll see ya around school! Just remember, I owe you a tour of Ruskin!” He said, rushing off to a group of his friends. I smiled to myself. School hadn’t even started, and I’d scored a date!
“YES!” I thought to myself.
“I can’t believe you already scored a date!” Angie said, as if she was reading my mind.
“Me neither!” I said, all excited and jumpy.
“Ahh...well, you’ll have to teach me your tricks of the trade!” Angie joked.
“You bet!” I said back, and we both laughed. I could tell we were going to have a good day, or at least I was going to have a good day!
I was right. My day started off great. I found her locker, and it actually opened. There were cute guys on each side of my locker. Also, Nick’s was a few away. Also, at least on person who seemed to have at least one class with her. Everyone was really nice.
The bell rang, dismissing us from homeroom for our 6 minutes of passing time to first hour. I walked with Samantha Clarence, Sam, from homeroom. She was really cool.
“So Audree, wanna sit with me and some of my buds at lunch?” I practically jumped at this chance. Sam was very popular, and it showed, so I definately wanted to accept this invitation.
“Sure, I’d love that!” I said, smiling.
“Great! Hmm.. I’ll probably have to find you, because the lunch room gets so crowded. You’ll be coming from History? Use the southeast entrance and I’ll be waiting there, you probably won’t see me cuz there’s always a million people standing with me.” She laughed. “I’m sure you’ll find someone to walk into lunch with you! Someone from homeroom.” We continued on, making small talk as we went to our lockers and then upstairs for Trig.
My day was going by very quickly. Trig was soon gone, along with secong hour Biology. I was suprised Biology went that fast, cuz it’s my worst subject, but then again, it’s only the first day. Third hour soon came, and I headed to History class.
I walked into the classroom and saw an open desk by a girl who was in my homeroom, her name was Lexi Compton, I think. Oh well. She saw me come in, and smiled, then waved for me to come and sit in the desk to the left of hers.
“Hey, right there.” Pointing it out to me when I came over. “Mr. Simplin is pretty cool, well from what I’ve heard.” She smiled.
“That’s good. Actually, all my teachers have been pretty nice so far. Then again, it’s only the first day.” I stopped. While I was talking, I was glancing over the door. Lexi must have looked up when I paused, cuz she said to me.
“That’s Nick Carter. He’s star player of the basketball team. I’ll introduce ya. Hey Nick!” She wved him over before I could say anything.
“Hey Lexi.” He said, then turned to me and smiled. “Hey Audree.”
“Hi Nick.” I smiled back, starring at his pearly whites.
“Oh, so you already know eachother.” Lexi said suprised.
“Yeah, we kinda met in the parking lot this morning.” I laughed, looking up at Nick. He laughed too. The bell then rang and a tall, young looking, but old looking at the same time, man walked into the room.
“Mr. Carter, would you do us all a favor and take a seat?” I assumed it was Mr. Simplin. He was far from what I expected, cuz well, he was sorta good looking in a strange way. Nick quickly took the desk behind me.
“Alright. Some of you already know me, and for those of you that do, you can just sit and relax. For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Mr. Simplin, obviously your History teacher, but I’m also the coach of the b-ball team.” Mr. Simplin went on, but I was paying much attention to him once Nick started talking to me. We whispered back and forth to eachother.
“So, you’re the star player of the b-ball team?” I asked with a smiled. Nick laughed.
“Word sure gets around fast, eh? Well, I wouldn’t ever say star, but yeah I’m on it.”
“That’s cool.”
“Yep, so did you already make plans to sit with some people at lunch?” He asked me, changing the subject.
“Yeah, Sam Clarence.” I said, both telling him, and yet asking him at the same time.
“Really? Cool, we sit at the same table.” Nick said, sounding quite happy. I wondered why.
“Cool.” I felt a sudden surge of energy spring through my body. This boy sure did give off electricity! Was it only to my body? Nah.
Mr. Simplin talked all hour, and the same went for me and Nick.
“Lemme see the rest of your schedule.” He asked, and I handed it to him. “Wow, we’ve got English together, and we’ve both got free hours at the same time, at the end of the day.
“Good, atleast I’ll know someone.” I joked.
“Someone? I’ll introduce you to the whole gang, and I’ll even take the honor of being your tour guide, to not only Ruskin, but the wonderful school that we attend.” He joked, sounding dignified when he talked about the school.
“Alright, sounds good to me.” Now who could argue with that? Not me. After Nick said that, I couldn’t wait for History to be over.
