-Chap. 1-

I woke up to the dreaded sound that an alarm clock makes to any teenager. It angrily beeped at me, sending subliminal messages, telling me to “Get my lasy butt out of bed,” or atleast that’s what I thought it was saying. Not only did the terrible sound of my alarm clock wake me up, the sound of my not-so-happy mother, shouting up the stairs, also haunted me. Neither sounds were music to my ears. As you can tell, I’m pretty sure, I’m not a morning person, at all.
“Audree Leigh, get down here! I don’t want you to be late for you first day at that school!” Her mother yelled from down the stairs.
“I don’t mind.” I muttered to myself. I usually am a very positve person, but starting out your senior year at a newschool hundreds of miles away from where you’re use to, and where all your friends are can definately bring down you positive attitude! I can’t believe mom did this to us! Us, being me and my two younger sisters, Angie (16) and Amy(9 1/2).
I had to drag myself out of my bed and I walked down the stairs. My mother was all dressed in her business clothes and Angie and Amy were at the kitchen table, one eating Cap’n Crunch and the other with a bagel and cream cheese.
“Good morning honey, now you know that you’ll have to bring Amy to school this morning and Angie’s going to ride with you, right?”
“Yeah, I remember. We went over everything how many millions of times last night?”
“Would you please stop with that attitude of yours! Ever since we moved down here, you’ve been a crab. This is your home now, so you’ll have to deal with it. I miss the old Audree, cheerful and hyper up for anything, where’d she go?”
“I think we left her behind at a gas startion in Nebraska.” I said sarcastically. My mother just glared at me. “Okay, I’m sorry mom! I’ll try to be a bit more, uh, optimistic.”
“Okay, good. Now I have to hurry! I don’t want to be late! You know my cell number, so call if you have any troubles. Goodbye!” Mom said, in a rush out the door, she kissed us each on the forehead. Angie’s face lit up and Amy crossed her arms in disgrace.
“What?” I looked at them both. Amy spoke up first.
“Why did momma make us move away? I miss Randi!” Amy’s eyes started to well up and I walked over to comfort her. Randi had been her best friend ever since both of them were 2 years old and now she was who-knows how many miles away. I bent down and hugged her and wiped the tears from her eyes.
“Do you think there will be lots of cute guys at the new school?” Angie asked. I laughed. She was almost as guy crazy as I was, almost. Her and I always got along very well, we were both glad that we were going to the same school, even though she was going to be a junior and I was a senior.
“We’ll just have to find out!” I said, a smile forming across my face. It felt good, it had been a very long time since a real smile had ever touched my cheeks.
I hurried back upstairs, to get ready. I checked my clock, it said 6:00, and school started at 7:30, so I walked over to my closet. Rummaging through the few clothes that were unpacked, I decided on my outfit. It was a pair of boot cut jeans and a red baby-t that said GAP in black letters.
After putting my clothes on, I walked into my bathroom, and my to my suprise, my hair was totally disoriented. It was still in a scrunchy, partly, and still damp from my shower before I went to bed.
“Geez, man, could I think a little less!” I said to myself, pulling the scrunchy out. My straight med. brown hair fell to my shoulders. I hit the oh button to my curling iron and walked into the hallway, to see how my sisters were doing.
“How are you guys coming?” I asked to them, not knowing where they were. Angie called back from the other bathroom.
“I’m still deciding what to wear!”
“Hmm..” I thought for a minute. “How about your black flair pants with with the black, white, and gray top from Contempo? Is it unpacked?” I called back to her.
“Oh yeah! Thanks! I hadn’t even thought about that.”
“Welcome. Amy, how you doin?” I yelled into the hall again.
“Good.” Was the only reply I heard, and I couldn’t make out where it was from. I shrugged and walked back into my bathroom. “It’s always great to be the older sister!” I said to myself, thinking about how I got the biggest room and my own bathroom in the house.
I curled my hair, and put my make-up on. Glancing over my shoulder, I saw that the clock read 6:45.
“Guys, we gotta get going! I don’t want to be late! I kinda wanna get there a lil early!” I shouted, running out of my room. When I reached the bottom of the stairs, I put on my white GAP shoes and waited for my sisters. They came down, Amy with her little ADIDAS backpack and Angie with her brown bookbag/purse. I grabbed my black leather bookbag and we walked out the door, to my car.
