“Who is it now?” Sara asked, grumpily. Jenni answered it.
“Hello?” She asked, sounding impatient.
“Hi Jen.” She recognized AJ’s voice before he barely got started with his
sentance.
“Oh, hi.” Was all she said.
“How are you?” He asked, trying be polite. He could tell Jenni didn’t really
wanna talk, especially not with Sara around.
“Okay.”
“What about Sara? How’s she?” Jenni stepped into the kitchen.
“Well, we’re men bashing right now. Does that give you any idea?” Jenni asked
sarcastically.
“Look, I’m sorry about earlier. You know you couldn’t just let Sara leave like
that, and I had to talk to Rok anyways.”
“I know.” Jenni gave in, she couldn’t ever be mad at AJ for long.
“Look.” AJ took a deep breath.
“What?”
“Okay, B-rok’s bummed, cuz we’re not going to be able to be with you in a
while.” AJ said, sadly. Jenni gasped.
“WHAT?” She yelled in a whisper.
“Okay, well it’s a long story, and I don’t want to tell it to you over the
phone.”
“Why, tell me.”
“I can’t. We have to be together when I tell you.”
“Well, when?”
“I know that Sara and Brian are both having a hard time, so it can’t be right
now really. You can’t leave her upset like that.”
“I need to know.”
“Well, can you get away?”
“Yeah, I can try.”
“Okay, well, meet me at Wonder Park in about 15 minutes, I’ll wait about 5
minutes and if you’re not there, I’ll assume you can’t leave her. Then I’ll
come back and call you.”
“Okay.” AJ laughed. “What?”
“I think it’s kinda funny you’re sneeking behind your best friend’s back to
see your boyfriend.”
“Oh yeah, real funny.”
“Sorry. See ya then?”
“Yeah.”
“Okay.”
“Bye.”
“Jenni?”
“Yeah?”
“I love you.”
“I love you too, AJ.” Jenni hung up the phone. Her heart felt like it was
going to melt. She walked intot he living room, unsure of what to say to Sara.
“Go ahead.” Sara said when Jenni walked into the living room.
“What?”
“Go see AJ. I know it was him. You’ve gotta go see him!”
“How’d you know?”
“Duh, I’m your best friend, I’m psychic.” Sara joked, a slight smile came
across your face, but whiped away soon.
“Are you sure?”
“Yes.” Sara put on a fake smile.
“I’ll talk to him about Brian for you.” Jenni promised.
“Don’t worry about it. I don’t want to know. I don’t want anything like what
happened between me and Josh to happen again.” Sara said. “Go!” She shouted
for Jenni to leave. Jenni frowned, and walked out the door.
“AJ!” Jenni yelled. She ran into AJ’s arms when she met him at Wonder Park.
“Jen!” He hugged her tight.
“I missed you!” Jenni said, happily.
“I know! Me too.” They laughed.
“Okay, now talk, buster.” Jenni said. AJ took her hand and led her to a bench.
He sat down and pulled her down beside him. He took a deep breath, and paused.
“TALK NOW!” Jenni shouted, getting impatient and worried.
“Okay okay. Well, like I said, we won’t be here with you guys for much
longer.” He paused.
“Damn you! Just spit it out already.” Jenni cried out.
“Chill!” AJ took her hand in his. “Okay, well we’re all in a group. Brian,
Nick, Brian’s cuz Kev, a guy named Howie, and myself. It’s called Backstreet
Boys.”
“Yeah, okay....”
“Well, we’re based from Orlando, although Brian and Kevin are from Lexington
Kentucky. We’ve been together for quite a few years. We’ve made it really big
in Europe and some other countries around the world. We came to Minnesota to
take a break, for the summer you know. After this summer we’re going to try,
again, and make it big in the US.”
“What do you mean ‘again’?”
“Well, we tried a few years ago. Our first single was called ‘We’ve Got It
Goin’ On.’”
“No way! I use to love that song.” Jenni sounded excited.
“Yeah, that was us. It didn’t work out in the US, but it did in Europe. It
just blew up there and so we have had other singles released, a cd as well.
Anyways, into the present. We were going to have the whole summer to relax
before we go for the US debut, but one of our managers called me the other day
and said we’re going to back to Florida to work on the debut and everything
else. Promos and stuff.”
“What?”
“We’re leaving in 4 weeks. That’s why Brian went strange earlier. He can’t
stand the thought of losing Sara just when everything is going so right.”
“Oh no.” Jenni said, tears began to slowly creep down her face.
“Don’t cry, please don’t! We’ve got 4 whole weeks.” AJ said, trying to look on
the bright side.
“How long are you going to be gone?”
“I’m not sure, it could range anywhere from 1 yr., 2 yrs., or more.” Jenni
just bawled. “I’m sorry, I just couldn’t hold it from you.”
“When does Brian plan on telling Sara this?” Jenni looked up.
“I don’t know. He doesn’t want to.”
“He’s got to. She’s already beginning to give up on him. She doesn’t want
anything to happen like the way things did with Josh, the guy who broke her
heart.”
“Oh no.”
“He’s got to talk to her, and soon. She’s becoming miserable.”
“Okay, well, let’s go tell him together. I’m sure he’ll listen to you more
than he’ll listen to me!”
“Okay.”
