If I Don't Have You Chapter 3

Chapter 3

Sara and Jenni walked up behind the guy in the blue hat and listened to him, while he finished singing his song.

“That’s what she said, she told me we’d be forever. That’s what she said.... ohh... yeah.... that’s what she said. She told me we’d be together.” He stopped.

The girls both thought he must have heard them walking over. He turned around.

“Th-that was a beautiful song.” Sara muttered out.

“Thanks.” He replied back.

“Oh, by the way, I’m Sara, and this is my friend, Jenni.” Sara said, and Jenni waved.

“Hi, I’m Brian.” The stranger said and looked up at Sara. Sara thought to herself about his wonderful ocean-color- blue eyes. They’d made her breathless for a minute. She was caught in a daze.

“Did you write that?” Jenni asked.

“Yeah, I was just trying think of how it sounds. How did you think it sound?” Brian said.

“Oh, we thought it was so beautiful!” Jenni replied for the both of them. Sara was still in a daze.

Sara stirred herself back to reality. She started to make small talk about where he was from and and what he was doin’ here in Minnesota.

“I’m, umm.., here with a couple of friends. We’re just came to, uhh.. , visit some people. I’m from Orlando, Florida.” Brian answered her questions with many pauses as though he had been think carefully about which answer he chose. Sara thought to herself about how familiar he looked, “He seems so familiar...do I know him? No, I couldn’t possibly know him...” Sara’s thoughts were broken into again, she heard little peices of Jenni’s conversation.

“So, maybe we could meet some of your friends sometime and we could all hang out..” Jenni said.

“Yeah, that’d be cool! We could maybe show you some of our other songs. If you haven’t already heard...” Brian caught what he was about to say, and trailed off.

“Yeah, okay, how about I give you a call and we could maybe go out for a movie or something!” Jenni said.

“Sounds good, Okay, here’s my Sara’s number, we’ll both be at her house tonight, 555-1643.” Jenni said.

“Okay, I’ll give you a call later! Bye, it was nice meeting you.” Brian said. Both of the girls waved good-bye and turned around.

Jenni and Sara walked back to the car. All Sara could think about was Brian. “AHHH! We just met a way HOT guy, and scored a semi-date with him and pals, and you couldn’t even say 5 words to him! What’s up with that?!” Jenni said to Sara driving down the road.

“I just felt like I knew him. He looked so familiar, I was trying to recognize him. I couldn’t though!” Sara replied.

Brian called the girls around 8:30.

“Hi, is Sara there?” He asked.

“This is, is this Brian?” Sara replied.

“Yeah, so what time would you like to get together tomorrow?”

“How about....um... six-ish? Does that sound good?”

“That sounds great, could you give me directions to your house? Oh yeah, I talked to my friends, only two of them can come, AJ and Nick, the other guys are busy.”

Sara said that was okay, and she gave him directions to her house. They said their good-byes. Jenni and Sara stayed up for the next 4 and a half hours talking about what they were going to do to prime for their “date”.

The next morning when they woke up, they went to the mall to buy some new outfits for there evening with Brian and his friends.

“Hey, how does this look?” Jenni asked across the store Contempo Casuals to Sara.

“Umm.. I think not! Let’s try some other place!” Sara replied.

“Okay, how about Gap?” Jenni said. They both set down things that they had had in their hands. The two girls walked over to Gap, which was a few stores down to the right. The first thing Sara saw, she ran over a picked if up. A cute little sun dress that was blue with small yellow flowers on it.

“I like it! Now help me find something!!” Jenni said.

They walked around the store a little more and picked out another sun dress for Jenni with a different pattern. Sara grabbed a cute little matching purse, and the two girls made their way up to the cash register.

Sara and Jenni wondering around the mall a little more, hitting Express to see if they found anything better, and Sam Goody to check out the new cd’s. They left the mall around 3:45, and went back to Sara’s house. They did all their “date” priming with 15 minutes left to spare, so they called up Nikki and told her all about meeting Brian and their plans for the evening.

“Yeah, I know, I’m so excited.” Sara told Nikki over the phone.

“Ahhh.... I’d be so excited! That’s great, I....” Nikki was cut of over the door bell.

DING DONG.

“Oh, someone’s her,” Sara said with a giggle. “Gotta go.” She hung up the receiver and ran down the stairs. Jenni quickly followed in her excitement. Sara got to the door, and found two distincly handsome guys standing at her door way, both of them holding two roses.

“Hey, wassup? I’m AJ and this is my partner in crime, Nick,” The cute one with the dark hair and sunglasses said. The gorgeous blond gave a quick wave along with a killer smile. “These are for you.” He finished his sentence and they both gave each of the girls the roses.

A horn beeped in the background. They looked over AJ and Nick’s shoulders and saw Brian in a ‘98 Mustang Convertable. He showed his wonderful smile, and both of the girls felt like this was going to be the night of their lives as they walked toward the car.
