Sara and Brian drove down the street to the beach. When Sara got out, she
remembered the night when her and Nick had been there together; they had had
so much fun. She began to feel guilty. Brian interupted her thoughts.
“So, no sign of him, what do we do?”
“We look for him genius!” She teased Brian.
“Hey!!” He said back. Sara gave him a “hey what?” look, she was serious, she
needed to talk to Nick. Brian was suprised by this look, and had a hurt look
on his face for a moment. Sara smiled at him to show she was sorry, Brian’s
face changed to a smile within seconds.
They walked along the beach, in search of Nick. Until they saw a blond hair’d
boy sitting down on a rock, next to a dark hair’d girl. He was skipping rocks.
“Could that be Nick?” Sara asked. “Na uh.” She answered her own question. They
both walked up closer to get a better look. It looked like Nick alright, but
who was he with? Sara wondered to herself. It looked like her friend, Amanda.
No way! She thought to herself.
“Nick?” Brian cried over to the boy and girl.
“Amanda?” Sara yelled out at the same time. The two turned around. It was Nick
and Amanda, but what were they doing together. Sara kept questioning herself.
Nick’s face had a worried and upset look come about it. Amanda just stood
there. Brian and Sara walked up to Nick and Amanda.
“What the hell’s goin on with you Nick?” Brian asked, he’s was very upset.
“What do you mean?” Nick said, turning away.
“What do you mean ‘what do I mean’?”
“Exactly what I asked.” Nick said, turning back around to face Brian and Sara.
“What the hell? You’re pissed off at me and Sara, for who knows why and you’re
at the beach with a girl at the same time.” Sara stood quiet at Brian and Nick
argued. Then she spoke to Amanda.
“I thought you and Mike were going out?” She was very confused.
“We were, but we broke up yesterday. I was upset and went to the park, and ran
into Nick there. He listened to all my problems and told me about his. I had
no idea they were with you. Today we decided to get together and hang out.”
Brian and Nick stopped arguing to listen. Nick agreed with Amanda.
“So, you wouldn’t even talk to us about it, but you’ll talk to a stranger?”
Brian accused Nick.
“Yeah, so.”
“Hello! We’ve been trying to talk to you for god knows how long and you won’t
even listen! Do you even know what you’ve put us through?” Brian said, his
voice raising.
“Brian chill.” Sara reached out and touched his arm gently. He looked at her
and took a deep breath.
“Okay Nick, we need to talk this out.” Brian said, calming down.
“Fine.” Nick said, crossing his arms.
“Nick, don’t be like that.” Sara pleaded
“Be like what?! Huh? I’m sorry, but I’m a little hurt here!”
“Obviously not too hurt to go out on a date.” Brian said quietly.
“SHUT UP!” Sara yelled at the two guys. “This isn’t geting us anywhere! Nick
tell us what’s bothering you. And while he’s doing that, Brian, shut up!”
Brian looked hurt, but understanding. Nick started.
“Well, I really, really liked, okay, still really like you Sara, I guess I’m
just pissed cuz you chose Brian over me.”
Brian was about to object until he looked over to Sara and saw her giving him
a look. He stoppedas Nick continued.
“I don’t really know how to deal with this kind of stuff, I guess. Brian and I
have never, ever had a problem like this, well not over a girl.” He smiled a
little at his own joke. It was good to see him smile, Sara thought. Nick went
on. “I have never been left like that, just, well um... dumped like that.... I
guess that’s the best word to describe it.” Nick sat down on the rock and put
his face in his hands. Sara wondered if he was crying. She bent down and put
her hand on his shoulder to comfort him.
“Oh Nick, I’m really sorry. I never thought of things from that, your, point
of view.” Brian said sympathetically. Nick looked up to Brian.
“It’s okay. I’m sorry I was such a jerk! Friends?” He asked.
“It’s okay, ya learn to deal with it!” Brian teased. “Friends.” He said. He
and Nick both did their secret handshake, which ended with a quick hug. Then
Nick reached over to Sara, and gave her a hug, “I’m sorry.” he said. She
hugged him back.
“Me too.” They all smiled at eachother.
Nick grabbed Sara’s hand and placed it in Brian’s. Sara and Brian both smiled
at eachother. Amanda was completely quiet through-out the whole conversation
that had just taken place. Nick took her hand and she smiled. He looked at
Sara and Brian.
“We’re gonna go now,” He had a big grin on his face, “we’ll catch you lata.”
Both he and Amanda turned around and walked away, down the beach, to Nick’s
car.
“I’m so glad that’s done with!” Sara said, with a sigh of relief. She hugged
brian. Then, aftter they pulled apart, Brian wrapped his arm around her
shoulders. They stood among the rocks, together looking down at the beach.
“You know...” Brian started, “We are quite a few miles above everyone.” There
was a sly grin going from cheek to cheek and a twinkle in his eye. Sara
laughed at his adorable face.
“You’re too cute!”
“I know, I try!” Sar a laughed at him again.
“Do you really need to try?”
“I dunno, do I?” Brian smiled. Then he moved closer to her. Sara smiled and
gazed up into his crystal blue eyes.
“Brian?”
“Yeah?”
“Nothing.”
“No, what?”
“Actually, it was nothing, I just wanted to hear your sweet voice.” Sara
replied, and blushed at what she said.
“Hey, I’m the one who’s suppose to be doing the flattering here!” Brian said
softly blushing.
“Sara?”
“Ye..” Sara was cut off by Brian’s lips closing in on hers.
