If I Don't Have You Chapter 19

Chapter 19 -- If I Don't Have You

Nick called Sara’s house. No answer. He remembered that her parents were out of town again, and thought that she must still be at the park..... with Brian. He thought about going to look for her, to talk to her, but decided against it. He wasn’t ready to talk to Brian, and wasn’t quite sure what to say to Sara. Nick decided on calling her tomorrow morning.

It got late, and Sara and Brian were still at the park. They were now sitting by Wonder Lake, talking away. The wind started to pick up, and Sara got a little chilly. Brian took off his sweart shirt and handed it to Sara.

“No, you’ll freeze!” She said. Brian had on a gray Nike t-shirt.

“Um, who’s the one wearing a tanktop here?” He teased. He pushed it toward her, “I’ll be fine.”

“Okay. if you’re sure.” Sara put on the sweat shirt. It was very warm from Brian. Brian shivered a little. Sara wrapped her arms around him and hugged him, saying, “I’ll keep you warm!”

“You better!” He joked, and put his arms around her.

They just sat on the grass, holding eachother and looked across the sparkling lake.

“It looks so pretty.” Sara commented about the lake.

“Kind-of.”

“Kind-of?” Sara asked.

“Yeah, you’re prettier!” Brian said and squeezed her tighter.

“Stop, you’re making me blush!”

“I think it’s cute!” Brian said, laughing at Sara, who was turnig as red as a *cherry*.

They stayed at the park for about another hour. It got very windy, so they decided to leave. Sara and Brian walked hand-in-hand to their cars. Sara reached in her pocket and pulled out her car key. She didn’t want to leave.

“I wish I didn’t have to go home!” She whined.

“You don’t have to...” Brian said, trying to hint something.

“Oh really? Where am I suppose to go?” She said back. She knew what Brian was hinting, and wanted it too.

“Well, you could come over to my house, maybe for a little. Jenni and AJ might be there.”

“Are you sure?”

“NO, I would never want you to come over! Especially when your parents are gone and this is the only time that it could happen!” He said sarcastically.

“Okay. What about my car?”

“Just take it, and follow me home.”

“Okay!”

They got into there cars, and Sara followed Brian to his house. They saw AJ’s car sitting in the driveway.

“It looks like Jenni and Aj chose not to go anywhere afterall.” Brian said.

“I guess.” Brian opened the door, and turned on the lights. The house was dark. He walked in, confused.

“Hello?” He called around the house.

“I think they’re upstairs. I hear something, a tv maybe.” Sara said. They walked up the stairs. It was a tv. Brian tapped AJ’s door open and then opened it all the way. AJ was sitting up, leaning against the top of his bed and Jenni was sitting on him, laying her head on his chest. There was a bowl of popcorn sitting on Jenni’s lap; they were watching Mad Love, starring Drew Barrymore and Chris O’Donnell.

“Hey guys!” AJ said. Jenni smiled and said ‘HI’ also.

“Hey. Whacha up to?”

“We’re watching Mad Love.” Jenni replied. “I love this movie.” She smiled, and turned her head backwards and kissed AJ on the lips.

“I think I liked that better than the movie!” AJ said, grinning. Brian and Sara looked at eachother and laughed.

“We’ll leave you two alone!” Brian teased! Jenni threw some popcorn and it hit him and Sara in the forehead and face! “Thanks!” He yelled.

“You don’t have to! We promise we’ll be good,” AJ said grinning and Jenni looked up at him and smiled, “If you wanna stay and watch the movie, you can!”

Brian and Sara looked at eachother.

“Nah, that’s okay. Thanks anyways, I think we might go watch something else, or something!”

“Okay! See ya lata!”

As Sara and Brian were just going to walk back out the door, Sara stopped and turned back in to ask Jenni something.

“Hey Jenni, do your parents know that you’re staying here?”

“I told them I was staying at your house, sorry, and that we were going to go out dancing and might be back late.”

“Okay, just checking! That’s fine! Good thing my parents are gone!” Sara said, smiling! She walked out, and shut the door, but not all the way, as she left. She wandered the halls. Brian had gone off.

“Brian?” She whispered. She wandered some more, and came to a semi-shut door. The light was on, so she tapped the door open. She walked in. It looked like a guy’s room, so she assumed it was Brian’s.

There was clothes all over the floor, but at least she could walk through it. She looked at the walls, which were covered with posters of Micheal Jordan, Chicago Bulls, pictures of him and his friends, certificates, stuff like that. The walls were painted a medium blue, but the color was hard to see between everything on the walls. She walked over and saw a notebook on his bed. She sat down and started to read it, she wasn’t trying to be nosey.

As Sara was reading the notebook, she recognized what she read. It was the words to the song that Brian had sung to her, If I Don’t Have You. She felt her eyes get watery, and her stomach got butterflies. Some arms wrapped around her shoulders, and she turned around to see Brian looking down, with a straight face.

“Oh, Brian, I’m sorry, I thought you were in here so I...” She didn’t get to finish. Brian bent down and kissed her. Sara turned all the way around, dropped the notebook, and put her arms around Brian, pulling him toward her. She laid all the way back on Brian’s bed.
