Before she could recognize who it was, or even scream, she heard a voice and froze immediately, the voice began to sing.
“If I don’t have you, to hold , I can’t go on, in this world alone, baby it’s true. If you said good-bye, girl I would, I’m a star with no ligh, a day with no night, if I don’t have you.”
She immediately recognized Brian’s voice. As soon as he stopped singing, she slapped his right cheek. This caught Brian way off guard. He held his cheeck. “What did you do that for?”
“For scaring the crap out of me. You had no right!”
“Well, I’m sorry! I got a little worried since you didn’t call or answer the phone when I called, so I came over to see if you were alright. This is the thanks I get? And who’s car was that you were getting out of? It looked like Nick’s.” Brian said.
Sara reached down and grabbed her keys and opened the door. She turned on the light and pulled Brian in and slammed the door.
“Look, I was out with Nick, okay! You still had no right to scare me like that!”
“What? What were you two doing?”
“We were hanging out around some beach?”
“What?”
“What?” She cried back.
“Why, I thought you were seeing me!”
“I, well, I don’t know!” She nearly broke into tears.
“Well what?” Brian was getting very frustrated. He really like Sara. To just hear that she was seeing both him and Nick, made him confused.
“I was seeing both of you! I was never going out with either of you! You both asked me out, and I like both of you! I’m sorry! Is that what you want?” Sara calmed down now, and just spoke these words softly.
“I don’t know. I really like you Sara.” Sara looked up into Brian’s eyes. She liked him too, so much in fact. Then, she turned away, and thought about Nick.
Brian grabbed her shoulder and spun her around and kissed her. This was nothing when he kissed her before. This kiss was filled with so much more passion. Sara was completely frozen! Of all the times, or of the few, Brian had never kissed her like this. It was sort-of thrilling to her in a way. She walked backwards and walked forwards, they tripped on something and fell to the floor. They didn’t separate, though. Sara pulled away.
“Brian, where did that come from?” She asked suprisingly.
“Believe me, there’s more where that came from!” He flashed a quick smile and kissed her again, wrapping his arms tighter around her waste. Sara loved this, she couldn’t push him away.
“Brian, I’ll be right back!”
“Okay.” Brian said, and frowned. He wondered where she was going. Sara walked up to her room and shut the door. Brian was left down stairs. She was taking a long time up there, he went upstairs. He knocked on the door. No answer. So, he opened the door.
Sara stood there, in her royal blue silk shirt and shorts. Brian gawked at her. She looked marvelous.
“Don’t let your mouth drop too far!” She joked.
“Wow, you look stunning!” Those were the only words Brian could spit out.
“What, I couldn’t hear you?” Sara said, and waved for him to come and tell her.
“I said, wow, you look stunning!”
“Why thank you!” And she pulled him in for a kiss. Brian’s arms immediately went around her waste. Her pajamas felt so soft. They pulled apart, and Brian said, “Well, wait, I should probably go. AJ didn’t know I was leaving, and when he comes back he might worry.”
“He should worry.”
“What? Why?” Brian said confused.
“Cuz you’re with me!” She said with the grin. Brian laughed. She smiled. They both just sat down on Sara’s bed. Sara thought for a minute. Then turned away from Brian.
“What’s the matter?”
“Huh? Oh, nothing!” She said trying to smile. She thought of Nick, and what she had just done with him not too long ago. She felt like she was doing them both wrong.
“Are you sure?”
“Yeah, I’m just tired. Are you going to stay?”
“If you want me to...” Brian looked kind of hopeful that she did want him to stay. Sara looked at him, thought deeply, and smiled. “Sure.”
“Okay, well, I gotta go and get something from my car. I’ll be right back.”
“What’s that you need to get?”
“I’ll be right back!” He rushed outside, and to his car. Sara was curious as to what he was talking about. He came back in with a Small Brown Bag, he opened it, and took out Sara’s shorts. “I thought you might like these back!” “Oh thanks! Hey what are you going to sleep in?”
“My clothes!”
“Well, here, you can wear them again!” She pushed them back at him. He gave her a ‘are you sure’ look, and Sara said, “Well, you know the bathroom’s down the hall!”
“Okay.” He laughed.
Brian came out, and he looked amazing, as before. He had on her NIKE shorts, and a tight tank. She just starred at him.
“Do I have something on my face?” Brian asked jokingly.
“Actually you do, let me get it.” She walked over, and pretended to rub his cheek, then kissed him quickly. She smiled.
“Okay, well should we watch another movie?” She asked him.
“It doesn’t matter to me, we never end up watching it anyways.”
“Okay, well, we’ll just stay up here.” She said and walked to her closet. Then she pulled out some extra blankets, and threw them at him.
“It might get chilly with the air conditioning on.” She said with a straight face. Brian just looked suprised, and then his look turned to somewhat sad. Sara looked at him, “Gullable.” she said.
“What?”
“Gullable, it’s written on the ceiling.” Brian gave a confused look. “I was just kidding! I threw the blankets at you so there would be enough for you, I tend to hog.” She joked, and walked over and laid them in a pile, right next to her bed. Then, she climbed into the bed she just made, expecting Brian to crawl in next to her. He didn’t.
“Hey, that’s my bed.” He reached down and lifted her up. He laid her in her bed, right next to the edge.
“Okay.” Brian then laid down on the floor. Sara reached her hand down, and grabbed Brian’s hand. They fell asleep.
Sara and Brian both awoke to the sound of the phone.
