Chapter Two

"Mom! Where are my new shoes? Oh, never mind, I found them!" I called down the stairs. As usual, my house was hectic, although there wern't very many people in my family. My family is nothing compared to...well, the new band Hanson. I read on the internet that there was 9 of them all together! There is only 5 in my family.

Let's start with my mother. Her name is Terry Rennyolds. She's pretty cool, for a parent. She's not to over protective, but she is always making sure her kids are taken care of properly. I guess you could say, I like her hanging around, just as long as she doesn't embarress me when my friends are over.

My father , Scott Rennyolds, is a hot shot laywer, but he always has time for his kids. He always says he would do anything for us, which is pretty cool. I can always count on him for help.

Then theres my 16 year old brother, Kevin. He's okay, I guess. He doesn't go around and make fun of me, although we do get into plenty of fights. He's pretty cute, with his blonde hair, and green eyes. All my friends are totally in love with him.

Next, theres my sister Lindsay. She has dirty blonde hair, down to her shoulders, and brown eyes. she's around 5'7 in height. I have a while before I'll ever be that tall. She really cool. Me and her are really close. We do almost everything together. Even thouh she's 14 and Im 12, were still best friends.

Now, its my turn. My name is Lauren Rennyolds. I have long brown hair, and sparkling green eyes. Im 5'3 in height, which is pretty tall for a kid my age. All my friends tell me I could be a model. I say no way! I am definately not pretty enough. They are just saying that because they are my friends. Then there's the boys at my school. They're all pretty immature...They do the strangest things, like shoot peas through straws in the cafeteria, and make faces at the teachers backs when they're not looking. I'm getting pretty tired of it, because most of them wanna go out with me! Yuck!

"Whoh, Laur! You really should stay out of the way. I almost knocked you over!" Dad told me.

"Oops, sorry dad, I must have been daydreaming!" I said sheepishly.

He smiled and asked "Where are you going today?"

I rolled my eyes. "Duh dad, today's Friday. There's school today."

"Friday? I thought It was Saturday! I was so caught up with my new client, that I forgot! I have to get to the office!" He said quickly, as he rushed past me. Thats my dad for you, always on the run.

I quickly put on my shoes and tied them, rushed down stairs and ate a quick breakfast, just in time to see Jessica's mom pulling into the driveway.

Who's Jessica? Jessica Lindon is my best friend, besides Lindsay, I mean. She really cool, but sometimes she brags constantly. See, her father is really rich. One of the wealthiest people in Jameson California. She always finds something she has, that I don't. Anyways, She has long blonde hair, and blue eyes. Her hair usually isn't blonde, because every morning, she puts streaks of crayola marker in her hair. Today for example, it was red.

"Hey Jess, cool hair." I said, opening the door, and sitting beside her.

"Thanks. I like it better than purple" She said, reffering to the color she had in yeserday.

"So, ready for home Ec? Did you bring the chocolate for the muffins?"

"Mmmhmm, I'm glad to. If I didn't, Mrs Layton would be furious with me!" Jessica said, crossing her eyes and making a weird face.

"Looks just like her!" I said laughing.

Jess and I can be pretty weird sometimes. Espically in art class. Our art teacher, Mrs. Mitchell, doesn't care what we do, as long as it has an 'artistic' point of view. What a nut case!

The day went on, and I thought I was going to burst. I couldn't wait till I could go to Home Economics, so I could finally eat something. Finally, the 6th period bell rang, and I ran to the classroom. I went into the assigned kitchen, and waited for Jessica to show up.

    ***************

"Hand me the chocolate chips, Laur," Jessica ordered, pushing her red hair out of her eyes. We were baking our muffins.

"Here you are, Princess Jessica," I said sarcasticly.

Jessica shrugged, and added the chocolate chips to the dough. "And now, crack two eggs into the bowl," She said, reading the recipe.

I took two eggs out of the fridge, and cracked them into the sticky dough. Jessica frequently insisted on doing the easy jobs, while I was stuck with hard things, like chopping nuts, cracking eggs, and just about everything else. All Jessica hardly ever did, was stir the dough, and I was pretty sick of it, you know?

"So, what were you saying, Lauren?" Jessica asked me.

    "Nevermind" I muttered.

After we were done the muffins, which turned out perfectly I might add, the bell rang and I hurried to my locker.

Once again, I saw one of the boys from my class, Tim McDonald, making fun of my friend Alicia Banks, poising his hands over his head like a ballerina. You see, Alicia is a ballerina, and her dream is to someday become famous. I went to one of her practises once. She's really good.

I said a quick goodbye to Alicia, and hurried out the school doors, in search of Lindsay. I found her quickly.

"Hey Linds, whats up?" I asked expectantly.

"You'll never guess what? I have good news!" Lindsay paused dramaticly.

"Hurry up, I don't wanna wait all day!"

"You know that band you like? Henson or whatever?"

    "Hanson? Yeah."

"I was listening to my walkman in Study hall, and I heard that they're giving a concert here in a week!"

    "Your Kidding!" I exclaimed.

"Nope, I am totally 100% serious!"

    "Wow..." I said, dazed.

"Lauren, come on! We have to hurry home, if we want to mom to say yes. You know she has to go to work soon!"

"You're right," I started, picking up her pase, "Oh no! I just had a horrible thought! What if she doesn't let us go? That would be so awful!"

"Don't worry Laur. We'll find a way to convince mom to let us go. Mom's cool. Don't forget. She let us go the that Jewel concert last year."

"Oh Yeah!" I exclaimed, brightening. "Cool.."

We walked the rest of the way home, talking nothing about the Hanson concert.

When we walked in the door, mom heard the name Hanson. She smiled.

"Don't you ever get sick of them, Lauren?" She asked me.

"No, never! And speaking of hanson, their haveing a concert soon, one week to be exact. Can Lindsay and I go? Please?" I asked, ready to get on my knees and beg.

"Okay, sure. You girls deserve a break," She said, taking the paper out of the mail slot by our door.

"Really?" I asked. I was expecting to have to argue about it.

    "Really." She said.

    "Seriously??" I was amazed.

    "Lauren I said yes!"

"Wow, thanks mom!" Lindsay said, throwing her arms around her mother.

"Wait, Lindsay, I thought you didn't like Hanson! You didn't even know their real name, before today!" I said, crossing my arms across my chest.

"Well, I can hear you playing it in your room, you play it so L0UD, Lauren. They're pretty good, I have to admit it. And with all those posters on your walls, I have to say that the middle one is cute.

I smiled, and walked up to my room. I put in Middle Of Nowhere (What else?) and sat on my bed. While "Thinking of You" came on, I thought about the concert, what I would wear, and how Zac would look...
