34 Dodge Pick Ups
The 33-34-early 35 Dodge pick-ups had various wheelbases. Most were 112". Some were 115" and 118". Series K ,KC ,KH were "conventional, commercial,or Farm trucks. Humpback panels are KH series. Identifiactions are located on a oval plate on the firewall near the top center. The identifiaction always starts with the series such as "K" or "KH" etc., before the serial number.
Mid-year introductory models (1935) have a change in the radiator brace mounting and location on the firewall, from 2 braces located near upper outer curved firewall area to a single brace in the center top under the hood hinge. The location of the door strap stops are also different. They are located higher on the 1935 about 2 inches.
The easiest way to spot a ( K series) "farm truck" is a 6" space between the cab and the bed. (If there is no frame, then the serial tag /[body identifiaction] may be found on the passenger side of the hinge pillar. If the SERIAL NUMBER is not there, then the only thing you can do is identify the year by the "PRODUCTION NUMBER" located on a SERIAL NUMBER PLATE "rivited" on the passenger's side hinge pillar. If there is a frame under the truck the "BODY NUMBER" will also be stamped in the frame on the driver's side rail, on the outside of the frame, in three different points most of the time. Either above the front axel, below driver's door, or above (maybe slightly foreward of ) the rearend. The area between the cab and bed was for carrying pitch forks, shovels, hoes, etc (on a farm truck). All pick up trucks had 13.5 gallon gas tanks from the factory. they also utilized the 1933 fender styles that were used on the 33 model cars. Doors open backwards until mid year in 1935 when there was a change to front hinges so the doors opened at the rear. Also the instrument panel/cluster was changed. All else remained unchanged. The 34 Roadster Dodge Never Made.
Plymouth pick-ups/cars were almost identical as the Dodges in the fenders. Dodge pick up / car fenders have a rib in the front center of the front fenders only and the Plymouth car front fenders don't. Rear fenders will swap between the pick ups. They do mount different than car rear fenders. The difference in the cab design is noted in the reveal above the windshield. The Dodge curves down on the ends of the reveal and the Plymouth is straight on the ends. The dash in the Plymouth is oval where as the dash in the Dodge is elongated, somewhat like a football that has been streched with the ends cut off. In the bare design these are the only differences.
With expermentation the looks can be changed by swaping sheet metal. Some Chrysler fromt clips will fit. By changing frames the wheelbases can be altered and shorter versions of the pick up can be assembled with no cutting of any metal.
Various companies offer replacement parts for thease model trucks.
The 1 ton version truck sports the same cab used on regular pick ups. Differences can be seen in the fenders, running boards, frames, etc.
