-- words and music by Michael Stanley
-- Studio Version --
from "Right Back At Ya", 1992
And from "Stagepass", 1977, Epic Records
I can't conceive of trying,
trying it all again
For one time I'm not buying
all your lies that never end
I think we've gone about as far
as we're ever gonna go
And seeing you for what you are
was enough to let me know...
Ain't nothing you can say now
gonna make me change my mind
Just give me one good reason, one good reason
why I ought to love you
One good reason, why I shouldn't
put someone above you...
Look who's going under
Trying to make it last
Don't want to steal your thunder
but the time for saving's past
(It's so far gone)
And all the talk that's going down
well, I never ever bought a line
No reason left to hang around
And I just don't have, I just don't have the time...
Ain't nothing you can say now
gonna make me change my mind
Just give me one good reason, one good reason
Tell me why, why I ought to love you
One good reason
Gimme one...
All I need is one good reason, one good reason
Tell me why, why I ought to love you
One good reason
Baby, it's the end...

Studio version... live version on the Stagepass CD... very different song for me at this point in the old
career ... also marks a change in singing style due to the positive creative harassment of producer Bill Szymczyk ...
another great Sanborn solo ... in fact, we used four of his solos simultaneously on the fade, which, when
played over very large studio monitors at extreme volume can give the listener a rather accurate rendering of
a mental breakdown ... why would we do that? ... because we could...
