Usher was so happy he won, that he jumped up from his chair, then stood on his chair, faced the audience and threw his hands up in the air....and kinda waved them a little. Then he got down from the chair, clapped a little, hugged his pops, Mr. L.A. Reid (who was sitting in front of him), brought J.D. as well as his other friend on stage with him. When Usher got on stage, Usher blew a kiss to the audience with both of his hands, to show his appreciation of them supporting him. Usher then walked to the microphone, looked at his award, laughed then began his speech. Here it goes....
"Man, man, man, man, man!" -says Usher. Then Jermane Dupri says..."That's what I'm talking 'bout! That's what I'm talking 'bout!!!" Usher continues...."Whoa! Now first and for most man I wanna' ...I wanna' thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, 'cause none of this would be possible without his strength. I'm telling you! -Ah man, (laughs a lil'), this is a dream man, this is a dream come true.......I'ain't prepare no speech, but I had to write a couple of names down. I can't...hold up, hold up, I can't, I can't do this without my mother, where my mother at?..... 'cause I know..(pause) whoa (a girl screams out 'I love you Usher'). I love you to baby I love you! I first gotta' thank my, my pops, like my father man, L.A. Reid and Babyface for believing in me from the beginning ya'll. Um I wanna thank Dorsie James (laughs a lil'), Mark Shemiclaud, Davis Warlock, everybody over at Arista, Lionel, ah my mom, Vanessa...let me see um, Peet Jones, let me see um..whoa J.D. -ya'll know J.D.!.....for believing in me
