A Battle Won, but for What?

By Puff

The rat he came, late at night
Just a story, to bring fright.
Then why, I ask, does he attack,
Why, I ask,did he stab you in the back?
pFor the battle did rage, and fight we did,
We found the sword, where was it hid?
But before the last hour came,
Unto Redwall came great shame.
The rat by which we do not speak,
Attacked the abbot, old and weak.
Now as tears fall from our eyes,
Directions were told, to girls and guys.
A warrior was born, and Abbot made,
Farewell cruel world, Mortimor bade.
Into the dark forest did he fall,
No celebrations in the great hall.
The rat was dead, the vermin too,
Matthias to Mortimer: I lost a friend, I lost you
