His Comfort
A small child runs down a steep hill, loses his footing, and tumbles
the rest of the way down, skinning both his knees on jagged rocks. His
father hears the boy's loud sobs, runs to him as quickly as possible,
pulls the child to his chest, and comforts him. Once in the house, the
father cleanses the wounds and places a band-aid on each knee, as he
lovingly, yet sternly, warns his son to be more careful next time. A
jagged, rocky hill is not the best place to go running!
Just as the father in this story was there for his son, so too is our
Heavenly Father there for us. While our Creator has no greater joy
than to see His children prosper and be in good health, He is also
there to be a source of peace and comfort in our times of hurt and
despair.
We may be adults in an earthly sense, but God knows of our need to
still require His gentle and guiding hand and loving care. Truly, He is
as a blanket of protection in a hurting world.
Today, open your heart and life to the One who cares about your
spiritual welfare, as well as your physical and emotional well-being.
Through His Son, Jesus Christ, all things are made new and there is no
such thing as being "too old" to needing the love of a Father.
