Ethos and Alignment

Ethos and alignment play a vital role in who you trust and who you despise, however; there can be exceptions to the rule. Though it is not common for two people on polar ends of the scale to find themselves allies, it can happen on occassion, though the partnership is a strained one.

Chaotic Good individuals believe freedom and independence are life and happiness. This ethos views freedom as the only means of obtaining true satisfaction and happiness and view law, order, social structures and anything else which restricts individual freedom as being wrong. They believe that every individual is more than capable of achieving their own prosperity through themselves.

Chaotic Evil individuals believe that individual freedom and choice are most important and that other individuals and their freedoms are unimportant if said individual lacks the strength to obtain their own freedom. They believe that law and order promote only groups and social structures and suppress the individual of gaining their own prosperity.

Chaotic Neutral individuals believe that absolute, undrestricted freedom is necessary in all ways, irregardless how each individual chooses to use it: for good or evil purposes. They believe that life itself is law and order, therefore death is a desirable end to shuffle and consider life to be simply a tool to combat order.

Lawful Good individuals view everything with various degrees of lawfulness and always strive to do good. Those who follow this path are convinced that law and order are an absolute necessity to assure that good, as defined by that which serves to bring the most benefits to benevolence and the least woeful to everyone else, is upheld at all costs.

Lawful Evil individuals believe that while order is necessary, all order is not, nor are all laws beneficial. Those who follow this path believe that order is a means to place each group in it's proper place, from the lowest to the highest-or weakest to strongest. Benevolence, to them, is merely an excuse and a promotion of weakness which will suppress the strong.

Lawful Neutral individuals believe that law and order give everything purpose and meaning. Those who walk this path believe that, without this structure, there would be no purpose to the world, therefore whether a law is good or evil is not important so long as it brings about order and meaning.

True Neutral individuals believe that everything that exists within the universe has a necessary part to play. They believe that everything exists as part of the whole, balancing each other out with life being necessary for death, sadness necessary for happiness, chaos necessary for order, etceterra and vice versa. Those who walk this path believe that nothing should ever upset this balance in either direction.

Neutral Good individuals believe that law and chaos are tools with which life, prosperity and happiness are achieved by those who deserve it. Order is not viewed as necessary unless it happens to bring everything to everyone; nor, at the same time, is freedom necessary unless it brings about good things to all.

Neutral Evil individuals believe that neither an individual nor a social group have any significant meaning. Those who walk this path believe that those promoting harmony for all brings about only agony to those truly deserving of success. They believe that those natural forces designed to weed out the weak from the strong are suppressed by those doing so-called "good", and that the fittest, smartest and strongest are wrongfully and unjustly held back.
