Separate
I'm just a man
Taken for all and all
Try to walk strong
but sometimes I fall
Like when I look
Deep into your eyes
That's when I start
When I realize

I am I
You are you
separate
just simply two
never to be
A you and me
Separate
It will always be

Sometimes I dream
when I see your smile
That it was me
Who made you happy for a while
But then I look
deep in my soul
a slow tear fall
Because then I know

I am I
You are you
separate
just simply two
never to be
A you and me
Separate
It will always be

The Rose

As I thought about my love
My heart began to stir
So I stopped at the corner store
To buy a rose for her.

I stepped into the doorway
And saw but one rose, fair
I smelled it's gentle perfume
That lingered in the air

And as I bent to take it
A child ventured near
He came a little closer
Then whispered in my ear

"Please mister, could you help me?
I need this rose, you see
I know I shouldn't ask you,
And It's very rude of me"

"Could I please buy this rose, sir?
I know there are no more
But I hear mommy cry at night
Since my daddy went to war"

"She says when he was home, sir
He brought one every day
But I hear mommy cry at night
Since Daddy went away"

Tears were flowing heavy now,
Both down his cheeks, and mine
I placed it in his little hands
And how his eyes did shine!

He went to pay the owner
Then skipped out through the door
And called over his shoulder
"She won't be sad no more!"

A smile spread across my face
As a thought occurred to me
And I took out the photo
She'd sent across the sea

Although the snap was yellowed
And I only had but one
There was no mistake about it
That child was my son

This was given to me by Sunny.
She met and fell in love with Mike on the net this past June.
Even though they never met, their love holds true.
I wish them the best of luck.
She wanted to share this poem he sent her.
She tells me they will meet soon and be together for the rest of their lives.
As for me I really hope so,
they seem to be meant for each other. I can see that myself.

I Love The Way

Is this heaven?
Is this true love?

I love the way I feel about you I love your smile
I love the way you express yourself
I love your honesty
I love you sensuality

I love the way I feel when you are here
I love the way I feel when I am thinking of you
I love the way my heart races when you tell me you love me
I love the way I feel when I imagine you

I love the way you know what I am thinking
I love the way I cannot hid anything from you
I love the way we communicate, even though we are apart

I even love the way I feel when I wait to talk to you
The anticipation of finally getting what
I have only dreamed about all these years
The realisation that it is actually going to happen

Could it be true?
Is it a dream?
Are you a dream?
I never want to wake up from

Is this meant to be?
Is this the first time?
Was there another time?
Another place?
Is there a destiny?
Is this heaven?
I cannot imagine what heaven would be like
if it was better than you.

You are my ispiration. You are my everything.

Soon, my love, we will be together
and nothing will seperate us
NO oceans,
No time,
No space.

In fact - have we ever really been apart?

I guess what I am trying to say is..
That I love you and always will.

Forgiveness

Once upon a time two brothers who lived on adjoining farms fell into
conflict. It was
the first serious rift in 40 years of farming side by side, sharing machinery,
and
trading labor and goods as needed without a hitch. Then the long
collaboration fell apart.

It began with a small misunderstanding and it grew into a major difference,
and finally it
exploded into an exchange of bitter words followed by weeks of silence.

One morning there was a knock on John's door. He opened it to find a man
with a
carpenter's toolbox. "I'm looking for a few days work" he said. "Perhaps
you would have
a few small jobs here and there. Could I help you?"

"Yes," said the older brother. "I do have a job for you. Look across the creek
at that
farm. That's my neighbor, in fact, it's my younger brother. Last week there
was a
meadow between us and he took his bulldozer to the river levee and now
there is a creek
between us. Well, he may have done this to spite me,
but I'll go him one better.
See that pile of lumber curing by the barn?
I want you to build me a fence -- an 8-foot fence --
so I won't need to see his place anymore. Cool him down, anyhow."

The carpenter said, "I think I understand the situation.
Show me the nails and the post-hole digger
and I'll be able to do a job that pleases you."

The older brother had to go to town for supplies, so he helped the carpenter
get the
materials ready and then he was off for the day.

The carpenter worked hard all that day measuring, sawing, nailing.
About sunset when the farmer returned,
the carpenter had just finished his job.
The farmer's eyes opened wide, his jaw dropped.
There was no fence there at all. It was a bridge...
a bridge stretching from one side of the creek to the other!
A fine piece of work handrails and all
and the neighbor, his younger brother,
was coming across, his hand outstretched.

"You are quite a fellow to build this bridge
after all I've said and done," the younger brother said.
The two brothers stood at each end of the bridge,
and then they met in the middle, taking each other's hand.
They turned to see the carpenter hoist his toolbox on his shoulder.
"No, wait! Stay a few days. I've a lot of other projects for you,"
said the older brother.
"I'd love to stay on," the carpenter said,
"but, I have many more bridges to build."

A
Goodbye
Kiss

The Board Meeting had come to an end.
Bob started to stand up
and jostled the table, spilling his coffee over his notes.
"How embarrassing. I am
getting so clumsy in my old age."

Everyone had a good laugh,
and soon we were all
telling stories of our most
embarrassing moments. It
came around to Frank who
sat quietly listening to the
others. Someone said,
"Come on, Frank. Tell us
your most embarrassing
moment."

Frank laughed and began
to tell us of his childhood.
"I grew up in San Pedro.
My Dad was a fisherman, and he loved the sea. He
had his own boat, but it
was hard making a living on the sea. He worked hard
and would stay out until he
caught enough to feed the
family. Not just enough for
our family, but also for his
Mom and Dad and the other
kids that were still at home."

He looked at us and said, "I
wish you could have met my Dad.
He was a big man,
and he was strong from
pulling the nets and
fighting the seas for his catch.
When you got close to him
, he smelled like the
ocean. He would wear his
old canvas, foul-weather
coat and his bibbed overalls.
His rain hat would be pulled down over his brow.
No matter how much
my Mother washed them,
they would still smell of the
sea and of fish."

Frank's voice dropped a bit.
"When the weather was
bad he would drive me to
school. He had this old
truck that he used in his
fishing business. That truck
was older than he was. It
would wheeze and rattle down the road.
You could hear it coming for blocks.
As he would drive toward the school,
I would shrink down into the seat
hoping to disappear.
Half the time, he would slam to a stop
and the old truck would
belch a cloud of smoke.
He would pull right up in front,
and it seemed like
everybody would be
standing around and
watching.
Then he would lean over and give me a big
kiss on the cheek
and tell me to be a good boy. It was so embarrassing for me.
Here, I was twelve years old,
and my Dad would lean over and kiss me goodbye!"

He paused and then went on,
"I remember the day I
decided I was too old for a
goodbye kiss.
When we got to the school and came to a stop,
he had his usual big
smile. He started to lean toward me,
but I put my hand up and said,
'No, Dad.'

It was the first time I had
ever talked to him that way,
and he had this surprised look on his face.

I said, 'Dad, I'm too old for a goodbye kiss.
I'm too old for any kind of kiss.'

My Dad looked at me for the longest time,
and his eyes started to tear up.
I had never seen him cry.
He turned and looked out the windshield.
'You're right,' he said.
'You are a big boy....a man.
I won't kiss you anymore.'"

Frank got a funny look on his face,
and the tears began to well up in his eyes, as he spoke.
"It wasn't long after that when
my Dad went to sea
and never came back.
It was a day when most of the fleet stayed in,
but not Dad.
He had a big family to feed.
They found his boat adrift
with its nets half in and half out.
He must have gotten into a gale
and was trying to save the nets and the floats."

I looked at Frank and saw
that tears were running
down his cheeks.
Frank spoke again.
"Guys, you don't know what I would
give to have my Dad give
me just one more kiss on the cheek....
to feel his
rough old face....
to smell the ocean on him....
to feel his arm around my neck.
I wish I had been a man then.
If I had been a man,
I would never have told my Dad
I was too old for a goodbye kiss."

Call Out to a Lost Soul

Beth was sitting at an airport terminal,
waiting to board a plane. She
was sitting there with several other
people who were also waiting, whom she did not know.

As she waited, she pulled out her Bible
and started reading. All of a sudden
she felt as if the people sitting there
around her, were looking at her.
She looked up, but realized that they
were looking just over her head, in the
direction right behind her. She turned
around to see what everyone was looking
at, and when she did, she saw a
stewardess pushing a wheelchair,
with the ugliest old man sitting in it,
that she had ever seen before. She
said he had this long white hair
that was all tangled and such a mess.
His face was really, really wrinkled,
and he didn't look friendly at all.
She said she didn't know why,
but she felt drawn to the man,
and thought at first that
God wanted her to witness to
him. In her mind she said she was thinking,

"Oh, God, please, not now, not here.
" No matter what she did,
she couldn't get the man off of her mind,
and all of a sudden she knew what
God wanted her to do.
She was supposed to brush this old man's hair.
She went and knelt down in front of
the old man, and said,
"Sir may I have the honor of brushing
your hair for you?"
He said "What?"
She thought,"Oh great, he's hard of hearing."
Again, a little louder, she said, "Sir,
may I have the honor of brushing your hair for you?"
He answered, "If you are going to talk to me,
you are going to have to speak up,
I am practically deaf." So this time, she was almost yelling,
"Sir may I please have the honor of
brushing your hair for you?"
Everyone was watching to see what his
response would be.
The old man just looked at her confused,
and said "Well, I guess if you really want to."
She said, "I don't even have a brush, but I
thought I would ask anyway."
He said,"look in the bag
hanging on the back of my chair.
There is a brush in there."

So she got the brush out and started
brushing his hair. (She has a little girl
with long hair, so she has had lots
of practice getting tangles out,
and knew how to be gentle with him.)
She worked for a long time,
until every last tangle was out.
Just as she was finishing up, she
heard the old man crying, and
she went and put her hands on his knees,
kneeling in front of him again looking
directly into his eyes, and said
"Sir, do you know Jesus?" He answered,
"Yes, of course I know Jesus.
You see, my bride told me she couldn't
marry me unless I knew Jesus,
so I learned all about Jesus, and
asked Him to come into my heart many
years ago, before I married my bride."

He continued,"You know, I am on my way home
to go and see my bride. I have been
in the hospital for a long time,
and had to have a special surgery in
this town far from my home. My bride couldn't
come with me, because she is so frail
herself." He said, "I was so worried
about how terrible my hair looked,
and I didn't want her to see me looking so
awful, but I couldn't brush my hair,
all by myself."
Tears were rolling down his cheeks, as
he thanked Beth for brushing his hair.
He thanked her over and over again.
She was crying, people all around witnessing
this were crying, and as they were all
boarding the plane, the stewardess,
who was also crying, stopped her, and asked,
"Why did you do that?"

And right there was the opportunity,
the door that had been opened to
share with someone else, the love of God.

We don't always understand God's ways.
He may use us to meet the need of
someone else, like He met the
need of this old man, and in that
moment, also called out to a lost
soul who needed to know about His love.

I Got Flowers Today

I got flowers today.
It wasn’t my birthday or any special day.
We had our first argument last night,
and he said a lot of cruel things that really hurt me.
I know he is sorry and didn’t mean the things he said
because he sent me flowers today.
I got flowers today.
It wasn’t our anniversary or any other special day.
Last night, he threw me into a wall and started to choke me.
It seemed like a nightmare. I couldn’t believe it was real.
I know he must be sorry because he sent me flowers today.
I got flowers today,
and it wasn’t Mother’s Day or any other special day.
Last night, he beat me up again.
If I leave him, what will I do?
How will I take care of my kids? What about money?
I’m afraid of him and scared to leave.
But I know he must be sorry
because he sent me flowers today.
I got flowers today.
Today was a very special day.
It was the day of my funeral.
Last night, he finally killed me.
If only I had gathered enough courage and strength
to leave him,
I would not have gotten flowers today.

You changed my life

My life was once filled
with nothing but pain and sorrow
For abuse and anger
was what I looked forward to tomorrow

I finally found the strength
to set myself free
But it took all that I had
Deep down inside of me

Now as free as a dove
I was ready to fly
But all I could do
Was watch my life pass by
For my life was no longer
Filled with abuse and anger
It was filled with many walls to climb
And a big lonely world surrounded by danger

Just when I was ready to give in
And give up the fight
I met you
And I saw the world in a different light

You captured my heart
You set my soul free
Allowing me to enjoy life
As it was meant to be

Whether it be your smile your touch
Or your bright cheery way
I can now look forward to tomorrow
and live for today

You taught me how to live
You taught me the joy of a smile
Thanks to you
I know I can walk that extra mile
I cant thank you enough
For walking into my life
For my heart is filled with joy
No longer pain and strife

So now I offer to you
All my heart filled with love
A special gift to the man
That truly made me as free as a dove

Did You Ever

Did you ever love someone,
but they didn't love you back?
Did you ever feel like crying
but what good would it do?
Did you ever see him smile
when other girls say hello?
Did you ever whisper "I love you,"
but never let him know?
Did you ever look him in the eyes
and say a little prayer?
Did you ever look into his heart
and wish that you were there?

Love is fine, but it hurts so much
and the price you pay is high.
To you, my friend, don't fall in love-
You'll be hurt before it's through.
You see, my friend, I ought to know-
For I fell in love with you..

Screams

I can hear somebody screaming,
Somebody crying in pain,
I can feel somebody's wet cheeks,
Tears flowing down like rain.

I can see somebody's bruises,
I can hear the hard hit of flesh,
I can feel the burning of hot skin,
The red, raw look from a lash.

I can hear an animal howling,
Cowered in agonized fear,
The whimpering noise of submission,
The spirit is broken, its clear.

I'm helpless to end the torture,
I can do nothing you see,
I can just lay here and listen,
To the screams that are coming from me.
