    Sonic Crackers is the most different and unique of the franchise. It stars Sonic and Tails, but this time playing with both of them is mandatory. That's because they happen to be stuck together by two rings they are holding. I assume the early name is taken from the idea that they have to crack the bond. In this very early release (1st ROM), the hit detection is off, the control is still under development, and glitches abound almost as much as in Sonic 2 (OK, not really, but 2 was very buggy if you played it alot). Only 2 stages have been designed, and a map or two were drawn. In the 2-player mode, there is no 2nd player control, Tails just runs to the right constantly. This is a bad thing, as for whatever reason, Tails has more priority than Sonic (his movements are preferred over Sonic's), so you will be stuck in the lower right corner, and Tails won't jump either. You can do special acrobatic moves to get to places you couldn't reach normally. Debug mode is enabled constantly, just push start to move the sprites. There are no enemies either. Pics are shown below and are taken from Genecyst, as was all the observations in this page. Acceleration is not yet properly implemented yet either, nor is gravity, as Sonic can run straight up and stand upside down, although he appears right side up standing. Tails also has only 2 sprites for his tails, standing and running straight, so on hills he has extremely long nosehair or something. This could be the prototype for Sonic 4, or Knuckles Chaotix, or something else. We really don't know.
