My View On The Radeon SE

This is the page where I express my views and thoughts on ATi's flagship product, the Radeon SE. As we all know, Nvidia is the leader of the video market now, even though the Geforce 3 did not improve upon a lot of things the Geforce 2 did wrong. The Radeon SE is the beefed up version of the Radeon 64MB VIVO using 5ns memory. This memory is rated for 200MHzm but I managed to push it all the way to 250MHz and run through Quake 3 and 3D Mark 2k and 2k1. As for the core, it went to 250 eaisly, I bet I could push it more, but I've decided not to. Anyways, this card kicks the Geforce 2 Ultra's ass, not to mention all lower Geforce models very eaisly. I've included my 3D Mark 2k1 comparison for you to see. It's interesting to note that a card with theoretically half the power of the Ultra (2 pipe lines in games that use 2 textures per pass X 250= 1000 megatexels. The Ultra has 4 pipes with 2 textures each X 250= 2000 megatexels.) can perform even better than a card with twice it's power. Coincidence? Nope, the Radeon is a technical feat, able to best the Ultra clock for clock. I give it a 10/10 for it features, speed, image quality, and driver support. They all rock seriously. After spending lots of time with this card, for $150 USD you can't go wrong for a 64 meg card like this.
