RONAN, IN THE CAN
Monday, 11 June, 2001
Ronan Keating is to be the new face of Pepsi in a new UK campaign. The singer, together with Atomic Kitten and Samantha Mumba will front a multi-million pound advertising campaign. The faces of the three artists will appear on Pepsi cans throughout the summer and the artists have also provided Pepsi with an exclusive CD to put in multi packs. The multi-media CD roms will contain tracks, screen savers, games and interviews. You can also listen to an exclusive interview with Ronan talking about his favourite tracks from his debut album. There are also rumours that Ronan will front a Pepsi campaign in the US although Pepsi have told worldpop they are unaware of such a campaign. Ronan turned down the offer of a lucrative Boyzone reunion UK tour this year to concentrate on launching his solo career in the US. His debut album, (already released in the UK), is about to be released in America and Ronan aims to spend three months in the States this year. Ronan has already proved he means business by recently spending £20,000 on having his teeth straightened in order to appeal to the American market. And in a publicity photo for his US album cover Ronan even allowed his chest hair to be airbrushed out in a bid to appear more boyish. It won't be the first time Ronan has advertised Pepsi. Boyzone advertised the soft drink in the UK a few years ago with a series of TV adverts. Ronan will now join Britney Spears as the voice of a Pepsi generation. Earlier this year Britney LAUNCHED a campaign to advertise the soft drink in direct competition with her rival Christina Aguilera who FRONTS the Coca-Cola campaign. The Spice Girls, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Robbie Williams and Ricky Martin are just some stars who have accepted the Pepsi pound. Robbie Williams decided to set up his Give It Sum CHARITY with the £2m he received for his Pepsi adverts. S Club 7's Pepsi advertising campaign was THREATENED when the three male members of the group, Jon, Bradley and Paul were arrested for smoking cannabis. From WorldPop
