2 weeks later
“I’m telling you Justin, I don’t know where your basketball is!” Chris said impatiently.
“Well, Chris, YOU were the last one to have it, no one else has played with it.” Justin said.
“Last time I saw it was a couple of weeks ago when you were playing with Brit-” He caught a look of death from Justin and closed his mouth.
“Whatever.” Justin turned and stalked to the back of the bus. He sat in front of the TV and flipped it on.
You know how right after a breakup in those movies, how every TV show seems to remind you of how much you wanted that other person? It seemed that way to him now, except for the fact that it really was him and her on the screen, and the images didn’t make him happy. They were only making him angrier.
“Today, pop princess, Britney Spears, announced that her and long time boyfriend, Nsync’s Justin Timberlake called it quits after their 3 ½ year relationship...” A clip of them at the American Music Awards came across the screen. “This shot, taken just three weeks ago, gave no sign that the two were having problems, but Spears insists that the breakup was best for both of them.”
“Justin and I talked and we decided that what was best for us was to not see each other romantically anymore and no matter how much people are going to talk we are just friends now and nothing more.” She didn’t seem to have any emotion showing in her face, a sign that she was lying.
They couldn’t be friends anymore, and they didn’t just talk. They had fought and yelled and screamed at each other. They had said things that were horrible. But, obviously, it wasn’t fazing her, so he wasn’t going to let it faze him either.
He got a disgusted look on his face and flipped the channel. There was a similar show showing the exact same thing, except the hosts weren’t being too nice about it.
“So, did you hear that Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears broke up?” The first one asked.
“Yeah, how could he let that go?” The second asked. “I mean look at her! Would you let that go?”
“Maybe she let him go.” The first suggested. Justin raised an eyebrow. “Maybe he couldn’t give her what she wanted so she threw him to the curb.” The audience burst into laughter. Justin let out a frustrated groan and turned off the TV.
It had been like that for the past 2 days. It was all over the news that they had broken up. Mtv had a field day when they heard. The only guys that hadn’t made a joke about why he had been dumped were Brian McFayden and Carson Daly. Luckily, Carson had cleared some things up on TRL and, hopefully people would believe him.
“Justin?” Lance said walking into the room.
“What?!” Justin said angrily.
“We’re at the venue.” Lance said. Justin’s bad attitude was really starting to get on his and everyone else’s nerves. “Just because you’re going thorough a tough time, doesn’t mean you have to take it out on the rest of us!”
“You don’t have any idea what I’m going through!” Justin yelled. “So why don’t you just back off and leave me alone!” He pushed past Lance and left the bus.
“Guys, we seriously have to do something about him.” Lance said as he entered the toy room at the venue.
“We were just talking about that.” Joey said. “I asked one of my friends, Megan, from New York to come down for a while. I’ve known her since…forever.”
“So…what you’re saying is that we are going to hook him up with one of your friends?” JC asked.
“Well, neither of them have to know about it.” Joey said.
“What’s wrong with her?” Chris asked.
“What do you mean 'what’s wrong with her?'"
“I mean, why haven’t you hooked up with her?”
“Because…I’ve known her since she was a baby.” Joey explained. “She’s like my sister.”
“Fine, whatever.” Chris said. “When is she coming?”
“In two days.” Joey announced.
“Do you think we can put up with him for two more days?” JC asked the rest of the group.
“Do we have a choice?” Lance asked.
“Guys, it’s show time.” Johnny said. “Where’s Justin?”
“He’s…we don’t know.” Joey admitted. “He’s been late almost every night this week.”
“Well, somebody better fix him.” Johnny said. “He can’t keep doing this.”
“We’re working on it.” Chris said. “Well boys, let’s do this.”
Only when performing did Justin crack a smile, and that was only when they were on stage. Backstage, the smile disappeared. People that worked on the tour were beginning to notice Justin sudden mood changes and they were starting to talk. Everyone agreed that something had to be done. The guys decided to keep their little plan a secret because if word got out that they were planning something, it wouldn’t be a secret for long.
After the concert the guys would run to the tour bus and get cleaned up there. Afterwards, Justin would climb in his bunk and not come out, except to get food. The others would try to talk to him, but he wouldn’t talk back. He had his days, when he would act happy, just to get everyone off his back. Even though they all knew he was just acting, they didn’t push it. The guys hoped that when Megan came, she would turn him around. They hoped.
