Christopher R. Dent, Director of Music

Christopher Dent has been Director of Music at St. Luke Evangelical Lutheran Church in Zanesville, Ohio since January 1998. As director he has conducted the Chancel Choir performing selections from Handel's Messiah, Hal H. Hopson’s A Festival of Hymns, and John Rutter's What Sweeter Music, as well as several other anthems. In May of 1999, Christopher conducted a chamber orchestra at St. Luke performing two world premieres: Prelude for St. Luke by J. Alan Barlage and E. Pluribus Unum by Patrick G. Mason.

Christopher recently graduated from Capital University with a BM in trumpet performance. He has performed with various performance groups including the Capital University Chapel Choir, the Capital University Wind Symphony and Chamber Winds, the Class Brass and Brass Menagerie brass quintets, Columbus Women's Orchestra, Capital University Pep Band, Little Theater Off Broadway and the Capital University/Bexley Community Orchestra. He is a member of the American Choral Directors Association, the Fellowship of United Methodists in Music and Worship Arts and is a former member of O.M.E.A.

In the spring of 2001 the St. Luke Chancel Choir performed the world premiere of Christopher’s Easter musical Majesty. Christopher is currently in the process of developing a new setting of the Advent Festival of Lessons and Carols.
