The world was locked in chains of darkness,
No hope for peace within;
No purchase could buy our freedom,
We were bound to die in sin.
Then Heaven wrapped a package,
Our redemption then was placed;
In the hands of Christ our Savior,
It was hand delivered grace,

The nail prints are the markings,
Of the price He paid.

Jesus is the gift of life,
Wrapped up in righteousness;
His message of mercy,

He left the right hand of the Father,
Stepping from His rightful place;
To seal our salvation,
