~from my home to yours~
Let us give thanks for the people in our lives and thanks to God for putting them there!
This year, as you gather with family and friends to give thanks, take a moment to reflect on how important each of them are to you. All too often, the activities, challenges and rituals of every day life distract us from remembering just how much family and friends mean to us. Family and friends ARE love and perhaps there is no greater blessing than this!
What
traditions do you practice in your home? Our traditions have
changed so much over the last few years since we get transferred
around and are not by family anymore. So last year, after moving
to Pennysylvania, we started a new set of Thanksgiving
traditions. We have family members make the four hour drive to
our home. We chose to have them do this over Thanksgiving because
most of them have a four day weekend for the holiday.
In our home, football blares from the tv, the table is set in a
festive autumn theme, and we dress in our comfy clothes so we can
EAT all we want! We smoke our turkey now in a smoker on the patio
(mmm...hickory taste!) instead of roasting it in the oven. While
the turkey cooks we have a variety of appetizers to tide us over
to the late afternoon feast.
Remember to count the blessings in your life and take time
throughout the year to express your thankfulness and
appreciation...as everyday should be a day of thanks.
Here's wishing you and your family a very blessed and happy
Thanksgiving.
