Hunting

Hunting season starts in the fall of each year and lasts usually until the end of January. I, along with my father and younger brother, hunt mainly deer with an occassional trip out to hunt rabbits with our two beagles, Toby and Stu (Short for Stu-pid, as named by my brother).

Our old beagle Mandy died a short while ago. She was a good dog, and if I get a chance I'm going to put a pic or two of her up here.

We, meaning my little brother, just brought home two more hunting pups of some variety. They're mutts in a sense, but they'll be good when my little brother gets done with them. He's good at that kinda thing. Their names are "Rufus" and "Fat-Boy." They're cute!

I first started hunting deer with a bow back in 1998 or so. I still use a Foxfire Crossbow with a 125 lb draw. Since I've started hunting, I have killed some deer, though I haven't found them all - and I tried. Four hours later, the blood stops. If you're a hunter, you understand. If you're not, it sucks. I have killed and found two does, weighing in at 135 lbs and 100 lbs. I have yet to shoot a buck with my bow, but I got my fair share of shots these past couple years. Something always goes wrong, though.

This year, though, I was able to shoot a buck with my shotgun. 11-points and well above 200 lbs. A nice deer. Very irregular, though; 4 on one side and 7 on the other. It's Nice!

I'm also a very big turkey hunter. It's a lot different than deer hunting, but it's still a lot of fun. I started hunting in 2001. I wasn't able to go out and hunt the Spring 2004 season because I went to Ocean City, Maryland to be a police officer. The same thing might happen again this year, but I will be ready to go out next Spring no matter what!

I don't have any pictures of the deer I've shot yet up here, but I do have some of the turkeys. I'll get the deer up as soon as I can, but until then, enjoy the turkey!
