Marvelous 3
By-Petersreviews.com
The first thing I must say about the Marvelous 3 is that they are possibly the best live band that I have ever seen! Lead Singer Butch Walker is definitely a black belt in Rock & Roll, with more charisma and talent on stage than just about anyone I can think of. The level of confidence that Butch commanded the audience with was nothing short of amazing. But enough ass kissing, on to the reviews.
Marvelous 3 : Hey! Album
Rating : four and a half stars out of five.
M3's second CD, the Hey! Album is textbook pop/rock with more hooks than Babe Winkleman on vacation in large-mouth bass country. With a ton of crunch guitars and great vocal melodies this CD is a must-have. Oddly enough, I found the self-produced hit single Freak Of The Week to be better sounding than the rest of the CD. Not that the rest sounds bad by any means.
There are so many great songs on this CD, from the opening You're So Yesterday to Every Monday to Over Your Head, every song on this CD is great. This is one CD that you can listen to from beginning to end.
If you're at all a fan of old school 80's and 90's pop/rock music, you must add Hey! Album to you collection. And no matter what, if M3 comes to your town, GO SEE THEM!!! I guarantee you will not be disappointed.
Marvelous 3 : Ready Sex Go
Rating : four and a half stars out of five.
Ready Sex Go is M3's third CD and much like the Hey! Album it maintains the band's trademark catchy vocal hooks and strong guitar work with a rock solid rhythm section. The main differences are that this CD has tighter arrangements and the production is cleaner and brighter sounding making this a great listen.
What really pisses me off is that their label HiFi/Elektra dropped the ball in promoting this CD. I didn't even know it was out until I ran across it in the store. I never heard one single on radio and of course no MTV play. I wouldn't be surprised if their label considers the CD "dead". This is such a shame because there were so many potential hot singles on this CD; Sugarbuzz, Grant Park or This Time could have been hits.
Be sure to listen to the last special track, very funny, I won't spoil the surprise by telling you what it is but I thought it was one of the most original ways to do what they did. That may not make sense now but you'll undersand when you hear it.
Please support this band and buy their CD otherwise they might fall between the cracks.
