Platinum Country Star Closes a Hectic Fan Fair by Performing for National Business Leaders
NASHVILLE, Tenn., June 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Platinum sensation Jo Dee Messina closed out a bumper-to-bumper Fan Fair week with a command performance for Governor Don Sundquist and the Inc. 500 entrepreneurs who were chosen as this year's fastest growing privately held companies. After a rousing 75-minute show that included her three consecutive multiple week #1s -- "Bye, Bye," "I'm Alright" and "Lesson In Leavin'" -- the by-invitation crowd called Messina back for an encore.
Even more receptive were the thousands of fans who stood in line for hours to see the Boston-born vocal powerhouse. Messina greeted fans at various booths and activities during Fan Fair week, ultimately signing for over 18 hours. In addition, she took part in several radio broadcasts to fans across the country. "These fans are why we do this," Messina says. "I wish there was more time for them ... anyone who cares enough to stand in line, come to a show or buy a record, I want to say 'hello' to. After all, for many of these families, this is their vacation -- and they came here because they love this music so much."
For Messina, who just wrapped the George Strait Festival Tour and is balancing headlining shows with Vince Gill dates, making that connection is what it's all about. Certainly that connection starts with her music -- as "Lesson In Leavin'" jumps from 11* to 6* on Billboard after only 8 weeks and her platinum "I'm Alright" remains in Billboard's Top 10 Country Albums. Look for the Academy of Country Music's Top New Female Vocalist in Washington on July 4th. She is the only country artist performing with the National Symphony on PBS' annual "A Capital 4th" live broadcast.
