Barber called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m.

Hope and Righter, Rec. Sec. Righter.
Absent were Trustees Wondrak and Parsons, Sec. Eddinger
Reading
of Minutes: Discussion
was presented pertaining posting the minutes to be read by members prior to the
meeting. Motion made by Al Chapman and
amended by Bill Buschor to post minutes on website and in display case, and
have copes available at meeting and have vote to accept minutes at
meeting. Second by David Righter. Vote passed. Motion made to accept the minutes as written. Passed.
Treasurer
Report: Treas.
Smith passed out copies of the new format budget for the 1st quarter
stating the club was ahead of budget.
Report
of Membership: Com. Barber
reported that as of 5/9 there were 148 renewals. Trustees had just approved for membership 3 new applicants: Ron & Sally Stewart, Rick & Carol
Middleton, Carey & Ruth Parks. He additionally commented that membership
was down approximate by 10 from previous year and that new member applications
were always available on the clubhouse counter, and could be deposited in
Commodore’s mailbox for speedy processing.
Reports
of Committees:
Social: Jeannie Brandt reported upcoming summer
events were 5/15 Pizza Party – club provides pizza and members bring drinks and
fingerfoods, 6/22 Halloween Party and possibility of having a Club “Boat Walk”
Race: David Righter reported that the practice
race would be held Saturday, June 1. On
Sunday June 9, Nate Wolshuck from Sailor’s Sales, will lead a brief discussion
of the 10 basic rules of racing at the clubhouse. It is hoped that current racers and curious racers will
participate in this educational event.
Cruise: Dick Barber reported for Rob
Kenney that he had the information concerning the Cedar Point cruise. A list of cruise participant was posted in
the display case.
I-LYA: Bob
Hope reported that all I-LYA information is available on their web site: I-LYA.org and will also be posted on the
bulletin board in the clubhouse. He
further reported from a meeting recently held that I-LYA was instrumental in the
process of Middle Bass Is. Becoming a state park; the Yachtsman’s Fund was in
good shape; and that Customs reported more changes forthcoming for security
measures on the Great Lakes.
GCBA: Al Chapman reported that the
meeting was to be held in the coming week; that information related to the I-68
form will be in the next newsletter, and encouraged all boaters to have proper
photo ID’s on board. He reported on the
GCBA involvement in the Wallop-Breaux Trust Fund vote to allocate more of the
federal motorboat tax to boating purposes, and in the Middle Bass Is. Planning
in regards to dockage.
Boutique: Nancy Chontofasky reported the boutique was
up and running; there were now 2 styles of long sleeve T-shirts. A volunteer signup list is on the store door
for all wishing to help.
Newsletter: Sue Young asked is membership would be
interested in having advertising in the newsletter to help defray costs. Questions and discussion resulted in an
affirmative answer.
Trustee
Report: Com. Barber
reported on the Trustee meeting held prior to the membership meeting that the
budget presented by Treas. Smith had been adopted, they had voted to accept one
new member and had listened to a report from the Planning Committee that was
part of a in-process discussion that the membership would hear about plans in
the future.
New
Business:
Kim Colebrook announced that he was now in charge of the clubhouse door codes.
Bill Buschor reported that the display bulleting board
hung outside the bathhouse had been taken down in order to sand and refinish,
for which a volunteer was requested.
A discussion was held about having engraved nametags for
all members. Several members were going
to look into costs of several types.
Ed Connor requested that the club sign up for internet access
now that a wireless type was available in the area. Discussion followed
and Com. Barber reported that the
Trustee’s had reviewed this request and declined to pursue for the time, until
more interest was shown by the general membership.
Al Chapman reported that the back door was frequently
found to be unlocked. After discussion
Com. Barber said the Trustees would investigate means to have it lock after
opening.
Motion to adjourn was made and seconded.
