Membership Meeting
Call to
Order: Comm. Barber called the meeting to order at 10:10 a.m.
Roll Call of
Officers and Trustees:
Present: Comm. Barber, V/C Colebrook, Treas. Smith,
Sec. Righter, Trustees Chontofasky and Parsons, P/C Cunningham.
Absent: R/C Hurst, Trustees Hope, D. Righter,
Wondrak.
Acceptance of Minutes: Membership
voted to accept the minutes as posted.
Treasurer’s Report: Treas.
Smith passed out copies of the Treasurers’ Balance Sheet and P & L
Statement.
Report of Elections: Sec. Righter
reported on the ballot returns: of 162
mailed out, 78 ballots were returned and counted. Voted in for the 2003 season were Jeannie Brandt for Rear
Commodore and Joann Mead and Terry Was for Trustee for 2 years each.
Report of New Members: Comm. Barber
reported that 2 new members had been approved by the trustees: Robert and Blythe Schubert who were in
attendance and presented to the membership, and Kip and Kelly Anderson.
Reports of
Committees:
Planning Committee: V/C
Colebrook reported for the committee that they had just received 2 estimates
for building the proposed clubhouse facility that were high. Work will be undertaken to make adjustments
to get the cost down. The committee and
trustees remain committed to the process.
Social Committee: Jeannie
Brandt reported that last month’s Boat Walk was a success with 13 boats
participating and 63 paid walkers. Many
thanks were extended to all that participated.
The next social on 8/24 would be a club fundraising dinner at a cost of
$15/member; $5/child. It will be open
to the membership and their guests. All
were encouraged to bring potential new member guests. Help was requested for table setup and with children’s games. The final social of the season on 9/21 will
be a Clambake Dinner with the theme of “Show Your Colors.” All in attendance are strongly encouraged to
wear HBYC logowear or colors.
Cruise Committee: Ray
Chontofasky reported that the next 2 cruises are to Leamington, ON. Pirates Weekend is 8/9-11 and Tomato
Festival is 8/16-18.
Boutique: Nancy
Chontofasky reported that the boutique was open during the clubhouse open house
during the Marina Party and had made over $400. New items are in and Christmas ornaments will be in soon.
Newsletter: Sue Young
reported that the newsletter will go out the coming week – she has been out of
town. Articles from members about their
cruises were encouraged.
Trustees Report: Comm. Barber
reported that the trustees will institute name tags for the 2003 season; the
locks on the coolers will be removed and contents sold and thereafter no
alcoholic items were to be stored in the coolers so that they could be
available to the membership; the locks on all clubhouse building doors will be
rekeyed due to security issues; disposal of ashes from the grills was outlined
as follows:
New
Business:
Bill
Buschor reported that the club burgee at the gas dock was in bad shape.
John
Noyes reported that several utensils had been removed from the clubhouse,
particularly knives and corkscrews. All
members were encouraged to return any items that may have been inadvertently
taken.
Motion
was made by Bill Buschor to adjourn, 2nd by Lenny Goshorn, motion
approved.
