>>Flashback<<
3 years ago....Lauren and her family were in Hawaii on vacation.
“Hey mom, I’m gonna go down to the arcade, then to the beach.”-Lauren
“Ok, be back for dinner.”-Julie(Lauren’s mom)
“Bye,” Lauren said walking out of her condo and to the arcade in the main lobby. When she reached the arcade she saw that only two other people were there. She walked over to playMortal Kombat which was right next to Final Fantasy, the game the two guys were playing.
“Hey, you’re good,” the little blond boy commented.
“Oh...thanks.”-Lauren
“Hey Nick, come here,” the little boy said to the other guy with him. Pretty soon both boys were watching her play the game, and cheering her on. Finally she beat the game.
“Hey, you’re good at that game,” the older boy commented.
“Thanks,” Lauren said smiling.
“Oh, by the way, I’m Nick and this is my little brother, Aaron. We’re here with our family from Florida.”
“Nice to meet ya. I’m Lauren and I’m here with my family from Ohio. I was just about to head out to the beach, would you and Aaron like to keep me company?”
“Yeah Nick! Please?”-Aaron
“Sure, we’d love to.”-Nick Lauren and Nick spent all afternoon on the beach talking while Aaron played in the water. They found out that they had a lot in common and they really enjoyed each others company.
“Hey, after you eat dinner, do you wanna come with me and get ice cream, my treat?”-Nick
“I would LOVE to!”-Lauren
“Which condo are you in? I could come get you around 7, ok?”-Nick
“I’m in condo #3528. I’ll see ya then!” Lauren said picking up her towel and heading back towards her condo.

About two hours later Nick showed up at the door of her condo.
“Ya ready?” Nick asked when Lauren opened the door.
“Yep, hold on. I’ve gotta get my sandals then I’m good to go.”-Lauren A few minutes later they were walking to the ice cream stand that was up the beach.
“So, tell me everything about you,” Lauren said staring into Nick’s eyes.
“Well, I’m 15. I live in Ruskin, Florida, just south of Tampa. I have three sisters Angel, Aaron’s twin, Leslie who’s 10, and BJ who’s 13. Then there’s Aaron who’s 8. I’m in a singing group with four other guys, we’re pretty big in Europe, and I love the ocean. Now it’s your turn, tell me everything about you.”-Nick
“Well, I’m 15. I live in Dayton, Ohio, actually Englewood. I have a brother who’s 13. I love to dance, I love the ocean, and I love Florida. I’m moving there when I graduate.”-Lauren
“Cool, then I guess we’ve got a lot in common.”-Nick
“Yep,” Lauren said as they arrived at the ice cream place.
“May I help you?” the cashier asked.
“I’ll take a vanilla cone dipped in butterscotch.”-Lauren
“I’ll have a butterfinger blizzard,” Nick said handing the cashier the money.
“Thanks.”-Lauren
“You wanna go sit on those rocks over there and watch the sunset?” Nick said pointing to a pile of rocks.
“Sounds good to me.”-Lauren They sat and talked and watched the sunset, then they started to walk on the beach under the moonlight.
“I love it here. I wish I could stay here forever, but I’m leaving tomorrow.”-Lauren
“I know what ya mean. I have to leave tomorrow too.”-Nick
“I wish I would have met you when I first got here, then we could have hung out the whole time.”-Lauren
“I know, well at least we met today, otherwise we may have never met.”-Nick
“You wanna write when we get back home? Then when I graduate I’ll come down to Florida to see you.”-Lauren
“Yeah, I’d like that,” Nick said as he cautiously reached over to hold her hand.
“I never want htis night to end.”-Lauren
“Well, we could go and get a blanket and then stay out here all night, that is if you want to?”-Nick
“Yeah, let’s do that,” Lauren agreed. They went and got a blanket. Then they sat on the beach all night talking, wrapped up together in the blanket. Then morning came, and they both had to go meet their parents and catch a plane....back to reality....to two different places.
“Thanks for keeping me company. I’m glad you did, ‘cuz I enjoyed it, a lot. Don’t forget to write me,” Lauren said giving Nick a hug.
“I’m really glad we met, even if it was on our last day here. I promise to write you, so you better write back.”-Nick
Things were quiet for a minute, then Nick leaned over and kissed her. They stood there hugging for a while...neither of them wanted to let go.
“Bye.”-Nick
“Good-bye,” Lauren said hugging him one last time, holding on for a minute, as she started to cry. Nick wiped the tears from her face.
“You’ll be ok. Smile, for me. I love it when you smile,” Nick said hugging her, then she smiled and walked away.
