Final Fantasy III is an excellent follow-up to the tradition that FFII started. It has to date some of the best little songs (hence why many of them are on this site). We learn about Terra's true identity, watched the blooming love between Celeste and Locke and shivered as Kefka created the World of Ruin. It also contains the very first interactive opera, possibly the only! *g*
It is also the first RPG that I have ever played that has a female lead hero. Personally, my fav was Celeste, due mainly to the Runic Blade skill, seconded by Cyan and his megadeath Sword Techniques. A far third would be Terra. She just lacked the coolness. Not too many heroes in games break under the pressure. Mind you, that is more life-like, but the average player wants to believe in the main character...*steps off the soapbox*
Anyway, I would also like to say that this game kept me playing it just about til FFVII came out. It seemed to be a long wait, but much worth it.
