ALEXANDER ANDERSON

On the 21st May, 1839 ALEXANDER ANDERSON and his wife CATHERINE FRANCES CREIGHTON, daughter of a Bishop, boarded the brig "Recovery" for the voyage to South Australia, which was the result of the greatest decision of their lives.

ALEXANDER, an affluent Surveyor and land owner of Scotland, and CATHERINE, gently reared Clergyman's daughter, very heavily pregnant with their first child, due almost any day. She had left the comfort of their cottage in philsborough, Dublin, to face months of danger and discomfort.
"THE LODGE" former home of ALEXANDER ANDERSON, pioneer, town patriarch, and statesman, whose memory is perpetuated by a plaque erected on the resere, Creighton Ave, by the Morphett Vale branch of the National Trust.
