Thanks, Dad ©

*the following poem was submitted to poetry.com and it is now being published in a book!!! =o)*

Forgive and forget, you have no regrets
It doesn't matter to you, that you had me and left
My mother is the strongest person I know
It must have been hard watching you go
I hope when you sleep you can see what you had
If you would have cleaned up and became my dad
I wish you could see the choices you made
were not just for you when you left that day
You abandoned your family, it's terrible but true
And the baby you couldn't handle, is part of you, too
I can't change the past, and I don't think I'd want to
I'm doing all right, I'm glad I don't know you
