If I Could Say HEAVEN CAN WAIT

Johnny's page about Depression

"I WILL NOT BE GIVING DATES OR REAL PERSONAL INFO DUE TO THE PRIVACY OF MY FAMILY AND THE MEDIA.... Let me tell you about my brother. He was a young man with potential, he was loved. He was the first born of 4 children, our little sister died at birth, so we were 3, and I could not have asked for a better big brother. He was 7 years older then us, and never let us forget it. We never noticed his troubles, he was a private person, and we didn't know anything about depression at this time, who does when they aren't looking for it. We always tried to be the normal family, you know "It cant happen to us " saying, well we all had that aditude. To make a long story short Johnny was suffering from Manic Depression. He hid it well like most do. One evening I received a phone call it was a friend telling me to turn the news on, I did really not thinking anything of it, well as i sat there and watched My whole world crashed right over top of me. I heard as the media destroyed my brother and our family within just a few minutes. My brother had killed his wife and himself on the night before and had been found by the police looking for him to arrest him for the murder of a neighbor just 3 days before. He had gone into a major Manic episode ( crash and burn ) and could not get control. He was autopsied and the findings were he had suffered a Manic episode 2 small words, and a life time of pain for all left behind. Now we live our lives with questions and no answers.

"FACT"
"Did you know that as many as 20% of women are believed to suffer from unipolar, (depression), and that the percentage of women suffering from manic depression is about the SAME as that of men.... about 2% of us..."
"A MANIC CRASH AND BURN. The bi-polar, manic depressive person (one who alternates between periods of manic euphoria and depression) should be extra careful to identify those triggers which may cause a reversal of mood. Some people seem to be able to control their manic periods, others cannot. Even those who outwardly seem to be in control are at risk if they have a reversal of fortune, and their sometimes unrealistic endeavors turn sour. The mood swing can be swift, unexpected, and dangerous. In an instant we can be slammed back into depression with strong suicidal urges.Knowing what is happening to us goes a long way in being able to regain control over our life and our emotions. But real healing will not be possible until the depression is lifted. I recommend that anyone who is depressed and having suicidal thoughts seek help. There are drugs which may help to maintain a depression free life, and therapy is needed to help us better understand why we became depressed and what we need to do in order to live our life in control of our emotions.
