People Piss me off for some odd reason...another dumb column by: Niki Z!

This installment is entitled: Rich Kids Love Their Drugs!

I have never been against drugs. I don't really think that they are all that bad of things, but most people are too fucking
stupid to know what is right and what is pathetic! I've done drugs. I haven't indulged myself with them for a very long time, but that doesn't mean I'm anti-drug! I'm serious, just because I have vowed never to buy drugs with my own money, and I don't really do any drugs anymore, people think that I'm all "anti-drugs" and shit. I'm not against drugs, I just don't do drugs because I don't personally feel that I need them, but that is no reason to label a person "anti-drugs".

The harshest of things I do these days that are considered drugs are: being a pathetic chain smoker at times (nicotine),
and a faithful Dr. Pepper drinker (caffeine). People say that those are drugs, and that I don't need cigarettes or Dr. Pepper. I agree, they are right. I admit that I'm addicted to both cigarettes and caffeinated pop. I guess I am just like the people that I'm about to bitch about (in a way), but at least pop & cigarettes won't cause me to act like the people that I know who indulge themselves with drugs like I indulge myself with pop & cigarettes. Plus soda n' smokes won't get me a criminal record just yet (these days with all the anti-smoking sentiment, who knows what exactly the future holds!).

Anyway, my point is, I'm writing about what I have seen people turn into cuz of the drugs they do.
Drugs that they started to do because it would make them cool. This isn't about how drugs are bad and you shouldn't do them. If yer into drugs, do them. If you think they are vile and evil, that's cool too, just read this, and I'm sure someone that you knew in school will pop into yer head after reading this, cuz what I'm writing/complaining about happened to them. It dosen't matter if you were friends with them, you will remember someone who used to be someone completly different then they are now, and for the most part, it was because they started doing drugs for social reason's. That's all I'm writing about, are people doing drugs to be social, and turning into a pathetic fool. Im writing about those people who do drugs and don't really care for them (they like the high, but not the cost, & risk of getting caught) but won't stop doing them cuz they are afriad that they will be outsed, and loose their 'good' friends! I could give you examples from my school, but it wouldnt matter to you. Some might thing this is about me. It isn't though. It is though, about what I'v observed over the years. So here is my crummy little story:

When I moved to Strongsville, Ohio about five years ago, I would have never suspected that 4 years later
the town would be full of drug crazed rich kids! Strongsville, back in mid 1994 was reminiscent of a mid-80's John Hughes flick, at least the kids & the schools were, in the way the kids acted and dressed. (except we never had a cool assed plot going on, like in a Hughes film, just the cheesiness of the kids) It was all kind of sick! The classes of 1998 and 1999 were just so yuppied out and clean that that too was kind of scary! Smoking cigarettes were bad, and illegal drugs were damn near unheard of! You were shunned within the school if you touched those horrid things. (I'm convinced that the classes '98 & '99 were the last thread of 80's rule. My class (2000) was like the rouge class or something, we were always different and less cheesy then the 2 grades abover us. We had our cheesyness, but lots less, plus kids in my grade started smoking and shit before the latter two grades. Something to be REAL proud of!)

From 1994-1997 I attended Albion Jr. High School (Now Albion Middle School) and things like
smoking in the bathroom and selling/doing drugs were obsolete. I'm sure the school administrators were happy, cuz all they had to worry about were stupid kids with ADD mouthing off to the teachers. It was totally weird, all the kids cared about were getting drunk (yup, the school was full of jockers) and 'getting some'. Now all the kids care about are getting fucked up on some sort of recreational, illegal narcotic and fucking. Everything has escalated a scale!

Around 1995 was when most kids heard of a few people within the school doing drugs, there were only a few though.
The few people that did it were the 'freaks', 'skaters', & 'stoners' (I first was introduced to the word stoner here, when nobody really did drugs, and I had never even thought of touching them, but people who looked 'grunge' or 'punk' or something were labeled a stoner, and even then it confused me! Why call someone a 'stoner' if they don't do drugs. It is like calling somebody who listens to hardcore a straight edger or something, just cuz they listen to hardcore music, even if they are total druggie drunkerds). Anyway, they smoked pot sometimes, so what?? There is nothing wrong with that. Especially if it was done in the style these boys did it (They weren't pot heads, they'd smoke a bowl or two after a hard day of biking, and watch a movie). That's fine, cuz it was just something that they did. Not something they lived. It didn't affect the way they acted socially, as in they barley ever talked about doing the drugs and didn't think they were cool cuz they did them. Their lives didn't revolve around it (it revolved around biking and skating, they talked about those things as much as the stupid burn outs in my school talk about doing their stupid fucking drugs. Every goddamn day !drugs! Every fucking night !drugs!

1997 was when drugs actually totally swept thru this town. It went through the kids and the schools.
It is standard for kids to start doing stuff that is considered 'not-so-good' when they hit high school, but while in the jr. high, yer still good. Jr. high is like the last of a kids unconscious innocence. Now, the Jr. High School I went to, is totally fucked up and corrupt! In the year after I left there, people started smoking in the bathrooms like it was a high school's bathroom. This might not sound like anything, but it is amazing! I mean, I went there for 3 years (grades 7-9). Only about 5 whole times in those 3 years had someone smoked in the bathrooms. Three of those time were by the same kid, in my class, when we were in ninth grade and the other two times had happened while I was in 8'th grade, by those damn bikers who started doing it all! That aside, it isn't big or bad, just amazing how that Jr. High (now middle school) has transformed. While I was there, they had a locker search once, while I was in 9'th grade, (the year of the ''big sweep'') for CIGARETTES, which was all I think they found. Now they have constant locker searches, and kids deal drugs there and all the kids are little preppie alterna kids who think they know where it's at cuz they wear black eyeliner, listen to korn and do acid. I just find it totally amazing, how things have changed in one year. They are already like the kids that I know now, who are burn-out's at the age of 17. Now kids are turning into pathetic burn outs at the age of 14, which isn't right. Shit, when I was 14, I was listening to punk rock and still playing with my fucking GI Joes, not doing drugs.

People have changed from who they used to be, in drastic ways. Good friends of mine who used to make fun of people
who smoked, now are druggie vandals. Straight A students who always knew the answer, who were perceived as dorks through out grade school are buying weed (now whether they actually smoke it, that remains to be seen, but it serves the same purpose, which is for gaining acceptance). My old friends aren't content just sitting around talking and listening to music, now they gotta be high to do this. Friends of mine, all they think about, talk about, and spend their money on are drugs. Their whole life revolves around drugs. A couple kids I know sold their fucking $800 bikes for drug $$$, which is scary to me. It is boring to talk with them now, cuz all their stories start out "This one time I was high/tripping, or high, drunk, & tripping". I've lost people who I perceived as good friends to drugs. Not that they died, but they stopped hanging out with me, cuz when they would pass the steamroller around, I'd never hit it, I'd just sit there drinking my Dr. Pepper, and smoking my cigarettes. They couldn't handle hanging out with me cuz I didn't give a shit about drugs. So these people stopped picking me up and hanging out with me, not because I was a jerk, not cuz I smelled or had kitty-box breath, but cuz I was a DORK, because I had no use for their drugs! I don't think that is right. People piss me off. Do drugs, but don't burn out, please!
