Frederick "Hellbane" Gilliam

Affiliation: Heretic

I miss Mutant Chronicles (run by Scott Reinhardt) because it was one game where stuff could come out of nowhere. Scott has a talent for bringing the absurd to the front and making it very real. What exactly does that mean, you may ask (I know I do)? Honestly I couldn't explain it... you just have to hope for the opportunity. Expect anything.

Gilliam stands about six feet tall, with hair that is originally dark with a white streak down the center, though he shaved the dark hair, leaving a white mohawk. His eyes are deep and dark, glittering with an unnerving sparkle. He has a slender, lithe build but he carries himself as the fist of God, mainly because he believes that's what he is. He usually dresses in armor or a lined trenchcoat, and almost always has a large sidearm on his person, for self-defense of course ("It's called a deterrent." as he would explain it.

Frederick Gilliam is a Heretic of Muajhe. He lived on Mars, most of his life. When he was 13, his mother, who was a Heretic of Illian, another Dark Lord, was slain before her family by the Brotherhood. Soon after, the voice of the Archangel Lilith began to speak to him.

Border=0 align=left> Unbeknownst to him, Lilith is truly just a fellow Heretic of Muajhe, who happened to be gifted with Telepathy. Muajhe had a vision that Gilliam would grow to become a powerful individual and sent Lilith to bring him into his fold.

From the instruction of Lilith, Gilliam joined the military and remained part of it until he was 20. It was then he met a woman, he knew only as the Baroness... The two fell deeply in love. Only when Lilith instructed him to leave the Baroness, did Gilliam ever doubt the word of the so-called Archangel. However he did as he was instructed, comparing himself with a modern day Joan D'Arc.

The Baroness, who was also a Heretic of Illian sent to draw him away from Muajhe, became angry and used her resources to have Gilliam kicked from service. He was cleaning out his equipment, when he met his new employer, a man calling himself Death, who ran a mercenary group called THUGZINC.

Joining THUGZINC. was a turnaround point in the young freelancer's career. He joined a team that included a freelance detective named Dick Smith, a dishonored Mishiman, his employer Death, and a terribly disfigured Heretic named Spawn. Death quickly came to appreciate Gilliam's skills when he assisted him in the assasination of the Mishiman, for general stupidity, by defending Death against a Wolfsbane, named Klaus Debonaire, who was going to defend the dishonored Mishiman.

"Adapting" the Wolfsbane's armor, he took on the name "Hellbane"...

During his tour with THUGZINC, he managed to fool the Wolfsbane's angry widow,Lynette Debonaire, into believing he was innocent and even offering her aid should he need it, as well as several missions where he was vital to the success.

Toward the end, things went bad. THUGZINC. was seized by the Brotherhood, and Death was maimed and nearly killed. Officially unconnected with THUGZINC, Gilliam sold passed along information on Death to Lynette, who suspected him of her husband's murder before moving to Venus, where he disappeared from view... for now...
