Tell me you don't doodle when you get bored. I doodled in every class I had to take notes in. For me, it acted as a way to focus on what I was listening to... most of the time. I often do doodles (or thumbnails as they're called professionally) to come up with ideas for pieces. Otherwhise, they just sit in the margins of my notebooks or on memo pads. I hope to track down some more and scan them soon. |
"Deskjob"It's silly giving doodles names. Anyway, this is one I did while I was working the desk in the art office. I'd been there about a half an hour and was bored out of my mind and so I decided to doodle on a memopad. This and the other faerie doodles were done at point where a lot of what I was reading(e.g. Sandman:Midsummer Night's Dream, Changeling the Dreaming) coincided with an exhibit by Charles Vess that visited our school. Vess illustrated the affore-mentioned Midsummer Night's Dream for Sandman. Check it out if you can get a copy of it. I also colored this in Photoshop... one of my first times playing with that program. I'll post that image when I locate it. | |
"Dancing Lady"This really isn't a doodle, but I don't have a better place to put it, really. Honestly, these days, I have no idea where this image came from. I was probably inspired by the theme for the game, Changeling: the Dreaming (check out White Wolf Online for more information). Their theme is one of a world that is willingly giving up its creativity. This has been my outlook for years now, as I learn more and more every year. And people wonder why I'm cynical... enough of this romping through my ways of thinking. Next image!

"Fiddler"One of my last faerie drawings. This one made it into Woodcut format, that does absolutely no justice to this drawing. I personally love violin/fiddle music; I think it's the most romantic instrument and I'd love to be able to play it. However I can't. If I ever get a tattoo this will probably be it, folks. | ![]() |
