Drawings

This is my page for my drawings. I consider drawing to be a hobby, but I also did some work for my classes, and those are the drawings that will be shown here. My personal illustrations will be found on a different page, that I'll add soon. I'll also have a link to my Senior Show as that falls under the drawing category, also.

"Dana"

This is from Figure Drawing. Our professor was tired of everyone cutting the heads off the models in our pictures, and so we had to do a study of the model's face. This is also one of the first times I ever met Dana Black, who happened to be modeling then, and is currently married to one of the guys from Theta Chi, Jeremy Schwartz. This is done in chalk and not really a very good likeness, but I'm going to blame that on Dana falling asleep (yeah right). I wish I still had the chalk drawing of my study of the shoulders, but that one was lost to the fire. Honestly this one isn't in very good shape either, as it has water streaks running through the chalk. Also, I seem to have accidentally marked this image in Photoshop. Unfortunately, this is the best picture of the study I could find.

"Nudes"

Yes, it's true in art classes you can draw nude models. This surprised my mom to no end. These are two shading pencil drawings from Figure Drawing Class.

Not really much else to tell about this one, I guess... just a run of the mill modelling session I guess.. kind of ironic really.

"Ink Study of a Semi-Nude"

This is the other drawing I liked from the Saturday morning modelling session for Figure Drawing, that I referred to on the Painting Page. This one is actually done with watered-down India ink that was applied with a brush of some kind. I look at pieces like this and compare it to what I'm doing now and I wonder if I've really gone forward... But which way is really forward, when you're discussing art?

"Self-Portraits"

Why I insist on putting these hideous things here I don't know. I hate doing self-portraits. These were, strangely enough both for one of my Graphics classes. The one with the long hair was actually done during my "black period" (so called because I actually dyed my hair black, not because I wore mostly black... I've been doing that since high school). Oh well.. go ahead and make fun.

"Crawdad"

I think I mentioned it on my Graphics Page that my Graphics 1 class was kept completely off the computer. It was more of a problem-solving course, and I hope to get more pieces scanned for it on here. For now though, this is the only project I have for it. We had to create a black and white image, then change the scale, first keeping it easy to identify, then making it more difficult to determine. From there, we had to choose one of the images and first, reverse the image, then add a single color to the original, then convert the original completely to color. Mine, obviously is an image of a Crawdad.

"Animals"

These were studies done fore my Zoo Project for Graphics. The Elephant was actually used for ne of the signs that I have to track down and convert to jpg to use on this page yet. Other than that, just anothewr fun day at the zoo.

"Ravens"

Advanced Drawing Workshop. This is the only drawing I have currently scanned in from that class. This was during the brainstorming part of the class when I figured I would do a narrative of some kind. I figured I'd write some kind of big epic poem crap or something, based on this picture and the death of things mythic in our world. Nothing came of it. I do like the drawing (and surprisingly, so did my professor). This was done freehand, the way I prefer to draw.
