Chapter 11
“Isaac..... I need to tell you something..... “ You tell him as he puts the car into
park.
“Okay, what’s up?” He asks you as he shuts the engine off.
“Well Isaac.... we moved to Ohio.... and in the process.... my Mom told me some
news. Oh Isaac, I just can’t believe I am seventeen years old and she never told me!”
You start crying and he pulls you over closer to him, wrapping his arm around your
shoulder.
“Christina, what’s wrong? What are you talking about?” He questions you.
“Isaac.... it’s terrible.... I never knew.... Isaac.... I’m adopted.” You look up in his
eyes and he is there to comfort you, like you knew he would be. “It’s been waying on
my mind. I haven’t told anyone and I haven’t talked about it with Mom. I just
can’t.”
“Shh.... “ he whispers to you, “that’s not terrible. She must have loved you a lot.
You know what I mean?”
“I don’t know. It’s just so weird. Why didn’t she ever tell me? I had a right to
know.”
“I really don’t know the answer. But, I bet she was going to tell you.”
“Well, there is more to it. Mom doesn’t know, but I sent a letter to the thag group,
People Search America. And I got an answer.” You continue telling him.
“That’s great. What did they say?” He lightly rubs your arm.
“I don’t know. I haven’t opened it yet. I am too chicken to find out.” You dry your
eyes and pull away from him a little bit. “I have the letter with me. Will you open for
me?”
“Yes, I will for you. Are you sure you don’t want to?”
“I’m positive. Let’s go inside now. I feel a little better now that I told you.” You
turn and face your door to get out.
“You had nothing to be afraid of by telling me. It makes no difference to me.” He
reaches over and touches your shoulder. You place your hand on top. “And if you
ever want to talk, or need someone, I am always here, you know that.”
“Thanks....” you whisper and then climb out of the car.
