Chapter 9
Isaac pulls up to the emergency room doors and tells Taylor to get a wheel chair
for you while he goes and parks the car. Taylor does the orders of his older brother.
And gets you inside the doors. It is now 8:00 o'clock and you are waiting on Isaac to
come inside.
He nearly has a fit when he asks Taylor is he has checked you in yet and
Taylor says no.
"I can't believe you didn't check her in! What are you thinking!" Isaac asks
his younger brother.
"Isaac, calm down. It’s just an ankle." You can tell Taylor is trying to calm
his brother down.
You look around and Devon is no where to be found! Where on earth could
she be? Oh, that's right, she had to call her parents. She returns in 5 minutes and tells
you that her parents will be there any minute now. You can't believe this! It's just an
ankle and everyone is getting worked up over this! I'd hate to see how they would act if
I was shot or something. You ponder. Isaac quickly scrambles to the desk and gets
you checked in, or so you thought. Looking around the waiting room, there isn't many
people there at all, so hopefully, they will get you in and get you out in a few hours.
And to your surprise, they come out and call for you in the next two minutes. Since Mr.
and Mrs. James isn't there with you yet, Isaac goes back. He walks along side the
wheel chair. You can tell he feels extremely bad over what has happens and he
probably won't leave your side till you are up and the pain is gone.
Once inside the little room, the nurse asks you some basic questions. You
tell her that some of it will have to be answered when Mrs. James gets here. So she
leaves and tells you that they can't do anything but sit here till she gets there. The
doctor can't even give it a look. After the nurse leaves the room, Isaac looks up at
you.
"I truly am sorry. I don't want you to be mad at me. I guess we didn't
exactly get started off on the right foot, did we?" He says to you with a smile, trying to
take the edge off.
"No, we didn’t. But, it would be nice if we could start all over. What do you
say?" You ask him, returning his smile.
"Sounds great. I promise to make it up to you. I’ll take you out for lunch
sometime. Would you like that?"
"Of course I would. Then we could start to get to know each other
better."
"Why can't we start now?" And with that reply, he leans in to give you a kiss.
You can feel him getting closer. Just as your lips are about to meet, the door is
opening and he quickly jumps back.
"Hello. Mr. James and I got here as soon as we could. How does your
ankle feel?" Mrs. James asks you with a motherly concern in her voice.
"It feels a little bit better," you give a look over to Isaac. That near kiss
made you feel a lot better.
"Since her 'guardian' is here, we won't be needing you any longer young
man." The nurse tells Isaac and you can see he is hurt.
As he heads to the door, he is just about to open it, and he looks back at
you. You can tell he doesn't exactly want to leave. So you quickly speak up.
"Actually, I'd feel a little better if he stayed here," you tell the nurse. She
better let him stay, you think to yourself.
"Fine, young man, you can stay. But you must be seated over here." She
points to a chair in the far corner of the room.
He obediently sits in the corner, looking a little more relieved that he can
stay.
With in the next half hour (after pages and pages of questions have been
answered) the doctor comes in to see your ankle. After he does many tests (move it
this way, stand on it this way, does this hurt?) he decides nothing is broken, but it
should be x-rayed. Seeing as how your ankle is still sore and hurts to stand on, Isaac
puts his arm around you waist again and helps you back into the wheel chair.
"I'll go down to the waiting room now and tell them all what's going on."
Isaac looks as if he feels there is nothing more he can do as he starts to leave your
side, he stops and looks back into your eyes, "See ya in a few minutes."
