The Movie Critique Page- Welcome to my movie reviews page! Below I've rated the movies I've recently seen on a scale of 1-10 stars, 10 being the best. Sorry if there aren't any movies I've rated low yet, the only movies that I'd give a low score on are the ones I wouldn't go see in the first place.
Movies
Notting Hill(9 stars)- Notting Hill should prove to be one of the best movies of this summer! I exceptionally enjoyed this romatic comedy and am sure that I'll return to the movies to watch it for the second and maybe the third times. With a good romantic story about a famous actress falling for an average Joe and abundant humerous scenes, Notting Hill should score high with movie-lovers of all kinds. This film showes how a strong enough love between a famous actress and a normal guy can withstand the tireless pressures of media and society. I really loved this movie and can't wait to see it again, and hopefully next time I can see it with a girl cause this film would be great to take a date to. Everyone should see this and I'm sure you'll approve as much as I do!
The General's Daughter (8 Stars) The General's Daughter was a great murder mystery that kept me on the edge of my seat. When a highly regaurded woman officer, and the daughter of a legendary general is found dead, the Army calls in John Travolta to take the case. In turn, he uncovers some secrets carefully hidden by the miltary and through his investigation gets a glimpse at the dark corruption that comes along with power. This movie was loaded with talented actors that played their roles very convincingly. With a plot that you have to strive to keep up with, The General's Daughter is a must see!
Episode One: The Phantom Menace(9 stars)- Wow! Awesome movie. I'm a fan of the old ones so I reall enjoyed seeing this. I've been waiting a long frickin' time for this to come out, so when I heard the Star Wars theme song start and watched as those yellow paragraphs floated inot space, I almost lost it. It was awe-inspiring to see how Episode 1 ties in with the Trilogy. Its like, everything in the movie that happens has some effect on the movies we've already seen, so that was cool. I loved the light-saber fight scenes and the computer animations. It seemed really wierd seeing a Star Wars film consisting off computer animated ships and aliens instead of models and actors dressed up in alien suits. I really enjoyed The Phantom Menace and strongly advise you to see it, but I suggest to watch all of the Trilogy if you haven't done so prehand.
Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me (5 stars) This sequel did not come close to being as good as the first one. It had a lot of little funny parts, like the midget and the jokes about Dr. Evil's rocket which resembles ummmm....well...nevermind. Some of the humor in this film was a bit repulsive. I believe they went to far in a few scenes. I won't deny this movie did keep me laughing, but like this movie advertised in its previews, see Star Wars first!!
Big Daddy(7 stars)-Adam Sandler, in this enjoyble film, displayed not only his hilarious, mentally unstable side, but also his sweet, warm, loving side. He showed all those bitter critics that there is more to him than repulsive humor. I really like this movie, it was a good balance between comedy and romance. For all the fans of the other Sandler movies (like me) there is still plenty of funny material. For those punks who don't like Adam Sandler, there now, you have an actual plot and realistic characters.....so geez, cut Adam some slack. I did enjoy the romance in the movie and the adorable little kid, but there is just enough comedy mixed in to make sure it isn't some cheesy mickey mouse operation. This is a must see comedy for the summer. For those of you who hold grudges on Adam Sandler for his past movies, just give it a try....I mean, honestly, what ELSE are you gonna go see.....TARZAN??!! HAHAHAHAHA
