Delaware, Ohio is in an area of the Midwestern U.S. and Central Ohio which is
growing very rapidly. In March 1994, an article in the "Wall Street Journal"
identified Delaware as 14th on a list of the 20 "fastest-growing, wealthiest
and most educated areas of the country."
Delaware has a diverse economy which is based on light manufacturing, financial
services, agriculture and higher education. The Ohio Wesleyan University and the
Methodist Theological School in Ohio are both located in Delaware. Many Delaware
residents work in nearby Columbus, but choose Delaware as their home because of
its sense of community and small town character.
The town and county have a Cultural Arts Center, a Symphony Orchestra, a
Community Chorus and a Community Theater Company. There is an annual Arts Festival
in the spring. Every September the Delaware County Fair hosts Grand Circuit
Harness Racing. Five days of harness racing culminates in the running of
"The Little Brown Jug," an internationally famous sporting event and one of the
jewels in the "triple crown" of pacing.
