INDUCTORS
Inductors are a basic building block of electronics. They have many different
applications. They are primarialy used in frequency related circuits. They consist
of a coil wrapped around just about anything; air, iron, or ceramics. They
also come in different shapes, a Toroid is a dougut shape, a cylinder or a
transformer shape. When a voltage is applied to the coil, a magnetic field
forms around the inductor. When this voltage is DC the inductor just acts like
a small resistor. When the voltage is AC the inductor tries to turn that AC into
DC. When the voltage is taken away from the coil. The magnetic field collapses
inducing a voltage back into the circuit. It is almost like the inductor resists
change in voltage. The inductance is measured in Henrys (H).
