My "Babies"

Well, to start off, I would like to explain that I have 3 "children"...actually they are dogs, but to my husband and I - well, we call them our babies! We do not have children yet, so we tend to spoil our animals a bit.

Our first dog is Spooky, she also goes by Pook, Pooky, or P-Dog. She became a member of our family in 1994. Sam, my husband, picked her up from the local animal shelter on Halloween night that year. He actually went to see about purchasing a puppy, but saw her and immediately fell in love with her. Plus, she was going to be the first animal "put down" in the morning if no one claimed or wanted her. We are too soft hearted to let that happen. She may not be the cutest dog you have ever seen, but she has such a wonderful personality it is hard for me to imagine someone not wanting her! She has been a loyal companion, and such a devoted animal. She was abused by her previous owners, so we have taken extra special precautions to make her life with us extra special. It seems to have worked since she is so spoiled rotten, and is so relaxed at home. I wouldn't have it any other way! She has been such a wonderful addition to our family! She has such a wonderful personality and LOVES children and people! She actually thrives on attention, the more attention you give to her, the more loving she becomes!!

Next is Taz. She joined our family in 1995. We actually came upon her by accident on day while we were out. There was a litter of pups that were going to be taken to the pound, and she was among them. My husband and I talked it over (just for a few minutes) and decided that Pook could use a little friend at home, and WhaLa - we brought home Taz. She is wonderful, and has become more docile through the years. Initially she was a nutball, always jumping on people and no amount of training would stop her. But as she has aged, she has become a bit more layed back (thank heavens). It was difficult training her to not get on the sofa, but she has learned and now stays in her doggy bed. She is very playful and so much fun! She is a dog who will pout if she does not get her way...very unusual I think, but she does it! Who knows, she might have learned the pouting from my husband...*grin*...he does it all the time!

Then there is the baby, Minnie. She is a bit of an accident...*grin*...My husband and I were chosen to watch this little hunk of fur for about two weeks back in 1997 when she was 8 months old, but the owners never retrieved her. She is still here at our house, so I guess she is ours now! She is a miniature Yorkshire Terrier, and has an attitude like you would not believe! At first it was very difficult for her to get used to the other dogs, but she has adapted very well! She still seems to get on her high horse a few times a week, and she likes to snap at the other two dogs to show them she is the boss, but other than that I think like the other two dogs - life with her is tollerable - if you do what she wants! Although she is quite the barker, she is too adorable to resist!

And although my husband and I are animal lovers, I do not want any more! He would love to have a cat, or a ferret, or some other animal...but the three dogs are already enough, if not too much for me. And even though we have a nice big three story home, there is no way I am ready to take on another ball of fur...*grin*
