The Gremlin was made by AMC from 1970 to 1978. It was American Motors' attempt at competing with the VW Beetle. AMC was, unfortunately, the victim of a hostile takeover. In 1987 Chrysler bought AMC, mainly for the rights to Jeep.

This put an end to the manufacturing of many fine vehicles. The Javelin, Matador, and, of course, the Gremlin are only a few very cool cars made by AMC during their legacy in the car manufacturing business.
