Pokemon is a really fun and addicting Game Boy game. The point of the game is for you to be the World's best Pokemon Trainer. Pokemon monsters don't look ugly, they're either cute or weird looking. You start the game playing as a boy, you could choose a name for him or take the default name "Ash." Then you go to Professor Oak's lab to pick your first Pokemon. Then you set off on your adventure collecting Pokemon and being attacked by rival Pokemon trainers. You use your Pokemon to defeat and capture more Pokemon. Pokemon need to do lots of battles so they can gain experience and evolve into stronger Pokemon. Each Pokemon has their strengths and weaknesses. To conveniantely carry around all of your Pokemon you keep them in Poke Balls.
.....In the Pokemon Cartoons, Ash doesn't get any of those three Pokemon because he came late and they're all taken. So he takes the very last one, Pikachu! At first Pikachu is very stubborn and won't cooperate with Ash. Later he beings to treat Ash with respect (most of the time). In the cartoon, Ash still does fight with most of the rival Pokemon trainers as in the game. Two of them even join him; Misty and Brock.
The Pokemon game comes in two versions which are the Blue Version and the Red Version. They're the exact same game but they have different ratios of Pokemon. For example, one kind of Pokemon in the Blue Version coud have lots and lots of them but the Red Version coud have very few of them. If you have a link cable then you can trade your Pokemon with a friend.
