The first band that played was the Alleyway Infantry and as far as I remember things were fine until the second band came on. Everything went downhill when Switch 86 hit tha stage.
There were several complete asshole prep-core kids sitting at tables who apparently had an uncontrollable urge to scream out "You Suck" and other ridiculously idiotic and immature comments not worth repeating. After a shouting match with them the singer of Switch 86, whose name I do not know nor care to, felt it necessary to berate everyone that was sitting down by claiming that punk rock was all about "anarchy and chaos" and merely because we weren't up skanking around to their lame excuse for music (sorry, but all it gave me was a throbbing headache) that we were "a fucking joke." We may have been called posuers as well but I can't remember because I was too busy trying not to let his voice pollute my ears. After a song about rebelling against the system or sumthin one of the assholes shouted "What's the system?" The lead singer responded by asking if the kid was stupid and answering his question with "The system is what we're fighting against everyday." Helllloooooo...Are YOU stupid? Way to define what the system is. Frankly I don't think that kid had any idea what the hell he's rebelling against. He's too busy trying not to fit in. He likes punk rawk and got into what he thinks it's supposed to be about. Anarchy and chaos? He obviously completely missed what it means to be punk. I was, however, amused by the girl in front of me who continuously threw ice at Switch 86 throughout their set.
Nobody's Hero came on afterwards and was greeted by the assholes calling out "Suburban Circus!" Ok, we're all real glad that you want to hear Suburban Circus but shut tha hell up and quit ruining, from what I heard, an awesome band's set. Words were again exchanged between Johnny Hero and the dipshits and by this time it had stretched way past the point of being old. "Abercrombie and Fitch, dude" came outta Johnny's mouth and the preppie kids, who musta been too dumb to realize they were being made fun of, cheered. This went on for almost all of Nobody's Hero's performance and took away from it so incredibly much. Most people were focused on the hostility in the room and not so much on the music which is what it's all about. Errgghhh.
Finally the last band of the evening, Suburban Circus, came on. Super Asshole jumped on stage while Switch 86's singer was on stage as well. I think most of us watching in the audience could see that this was probably not a good thing. As guessed, the singer of S86 came up behind the dick and pushed him off of the stage. King of the assholes then jumped up and punched him. The singer punched back and then pulled a chain out of his pocket causing the kid to back off. Then later, while Suburban circus was still performing, a fight broke out between the leader of the assholes again and a tall punk kid. I have no clue why but I'm sure it was for no good reason at all. Afterwards the asshole was escorted out by security and followed by a giant group of punk kids screaming. First of all, don't come to a show and fight with the bands. You should be lined up and shot for that. Anyway, that caused Suburban Circus to stop thier set. I don't know about anybody else but I came to listen to the music and be surrounded by an atmosphere of love and unity, not hatred and anger.
Unity my fuckin ass. Those kids at the show illustrated exactly what punk rock is against and what we're striving to get away from. That show was a giant step back for the punk rock community and I feel sorry for everyone who was there and those involved.
