Two wheeled Electric Vehicle
Update. <>Do to some carefull scrounging it now looks like the total cost for conversion will be less than $1000, this includes purchasing a rebuilt controller.
I bought some slightly used DEKA Dominator batteries from David Roden. These batteries were initially used by a University team in their Electric race car, however they didn't perform well under high current draws (400+ amps). As long as I keep the current draw below 250 amps or so they should be fine. Total cost for 6 batteries was $210.
Originally I was going to try to build my own controller, however I have found a source for rebuilt controllers at very affordable costs, so I am going to go that route instead.
I've got a Frame! It's the frame from a 1984 900 Ninja (made famous by the movie "Top Gun"). It only cost me $100, but it's missing a few easential parts (like a seat), I figuring another $100 to buy the missing parts. Total cost so far (Motor/batteries/frame/misc)=$400 with an estimated $400-$500 left to go.
