Oh mom, I wanted to write a poem just for you
About the way you have touched my life
I have written many things
But there are no words I can think of
That will ever do you justice.
None that can capture your worth to me
To show the world just what being your daughter means.
While I was growing I watched you through the eyes of a child.
Always thinking you'd be there
After all mommys were to take care of their babys
No matter come what may.
I never thought I would see a day,
when other Mothers did not see it that way.
Oh mommy when I was a teenager
You were always there
and again I took it for granted
and thought thats the way it was suspose to be.
You know the selfish thoughts of a teenager
I just didn't know
Not all mommys were like you,
Gosh I love you so!
Now mommy as an adult
I have children of my own
and I can see all I must have put you through
as I see my children grow.
Oh mommy I didn't realize
at times it must of been hard.
and I love you even more
Then I ever thought could be so.
Now with passing years mommy
I take in special kids
Did you know they were there?
With no mommy like you to love and care?
Now I really realize even more I love you so
for being there with me as you watched me grow.
You passed on your love for kids to me
I feel it in my heart.
and every time I see a child cry
I think of you up in that sky.
For I know tears must touch your eyes
For all the love you have inside.
It's kind of a mommy thing
That a childs tears do bring.
No mommy there isn't a poem I could write
For mommy there are no words
That could tell you how I feel
for all the love you did show
as you patiently watched me grow.
But thank you mommy for being there
and some day in Gods time
I will be in heaven beside you
and be able to tell you one more time
