Compassion Gives Back

Giving money and time to an organized charity is often hard to do, considering many people in America are deceiving, stealing money under people's eyes. Although, in this short story of Mary, who supported a child in Thailand, a miracle surprised her in the future due to her loving contributions while she was young.

Mary lived her adolescent life giving her extra money to a boy named Sarawut Suwanin, who was born into poverty and needed financial and loving help to survive. A charity organization called Compassion International made this possible for Mary. Through this organization Mary could give money to meet Saruwut's needs through food and schooling. Writing to Sarawut was one of Mary's favorite hobbies because she could see actually how she was effecting the life of another person. When the time came for Mary to stop contributing because Sarawut was too old, she became sad and thought she would never be in contact with him again because he could move or could easily go to war as a young adult.

Mary grew up and became a good mother with two children named Jon and Bobby. Jon was a perfect, healthy child that enjoyed playing with other children. Two years later Bobby was born and he as born with a disease that made him extremely weak, and had an extremely high blood pressure. Mary prayed and prayed that there would be a cure for this disease that seemed to take over their family emotionally.

Meanwhile Sarawut was studying hard in Thailand to come over to the United States and get a degree of some sort. Finally, he took a test that admitted him to come over. While in America he decided he wanted to help people, so he decided to try a medical degree. Sarawut studied the human circulatory system. Eight years of studying and residency allowed Sarawut to start his own practice, where he started researching diseases and ways to cure him. While researching he found a flaw in the human blood system and noticed it leads to extreme weakness and high blood pressure.

Mary was praying for God to heal Bobby when the phone rang. "We have found a cure to Bobby's disease," stated Bobby's doctor. About ready to jump through the roof, she screamed to Bobby," they have found a cure!" Bobby, looking fatigued, mustered up all his strength and made a big smile. The doctor that called told her that the doctor is residing in San Francisco, California. Mary was stunned that it was so close because she lived in San Diego. The medical personnel took Bobby to San Francisco by ambulance and he reached the San Diego Hospital in one day from the call.

Arriving at the hospital two hours after Bobby, Mary could not wait to meet the man who was going to heal her son. Running into the hospital, she slammed right into a large man that had a tag on his lab coat that quoted "Dr. Suwanin." Mary jumped back and asked the man for his first name and he stated, "Sarawut." The first thing Mary could do was break down and cry because Mary knew she gave Sarawut the jump start he needed to start his life. What Mary did not know was that Dr. Sarawut was the one who developed the vaccine that would make her son a normal lively child. After, going back to Bobby's room, Mary was stunned to find out Dr. Sarawut was Bobby's doctor because he followed her into the room. Mary and Dr. Sarawut talked for a while and finally, the operation took place.

Mary was happier than ever and would not have had a cure for her son, had she not lovingly contributed her money as a youth.
