Road Trip : Something Simple

CHAPTER FOUR : Something Simple

"You're not going to take notes, are you?"

Michelle looked up from the notebook. "Of course not. I'm just keeping track of the number of questions."

Kevin sighed. "Okay, who's going to start?"

"You can."

"Don't sound so enthused, Michelle."

"I was just thinking of questions. Go ahead."

"Okay, let me think for a sec." Kevin switched lanes. "I'll start out with something simple. Who's your favorite Backstreet Boy?"

Michelle blushed slightly, but answered the question before he could tease her. "Nick," she whispered.

"Are you serious?!" She laughed at his incredulous expression.

"I can't answer that... Unless you want it to be your second question." Michelle giggled as his mouth opened and closed before he shook his head.

"Goody! It's my turn. What do you wear to bed?"

"I thought we were starting out with something simple!"

Michelle shook her head. "I never agreed to that, and that is something simple."

He wrinkled his nose. "While we're on the road, boxers. Nothing when I'm at home."

She only raised an eyebrow in response. "Are you a virgin?"

"Nope. You?"

"No." Michelle stretched in her seat.

"Are you serious about Nick being your favorite?" When she didn't say anything, he glanced over to see her take off the plaid shirt that she wore over a tank top and a pair of windpants.

"I'm not answering that," and she tossed the shirt in the backseat. Then she grinned. "Ever been to a strip club?"

"I am not going to tell you that!"

"Why not?"

"Because."

"Intelligent answer, Kevin. Either answer the question or hehehe... Strip."

He just looked at her to see if she was serious before turning to look straight ahead. "Hold the wheel." She tried to concentrate on keeping the car steady, but nearly drove right off the road when his shirt flew over her shoulder into the backseat.

Michelle whistled as she took in his finely sculpted torso and arms that were only covered by a white singlet. "Honestly, Kevin! You blush more than any guy I know! I would have thought that you'd be used to girls checking you out."

"I am, but it's a whole 'nother story when I'm in a car and ordered to strip, Michelle."

"Stripping was your idea, Kevin."

"Whatever," he muttered humorously. "What's the most romantic song you've ever heard?"

" 'Push-It' by Salt-N-Pepa."

"WHAT!?"

"Just kidding. Do you know the 98 Degrees song, 'I Do (Cherish You)'?" He nodded. "I like the original version of that song when it was called 'Cherish' by The-"

"The Assassination?" Kevin interrupted.

Michelle smiled. "Yup. I've never been too fond of remakes. What do you like to do on your vacation days?"

"Sleep, usually. Visit family and friends, and work in my studio."

Michelle motioned to a road sign. "Take this next exit." Kevin pulled the Mustang off the interstate and about a mile down the road, they stopped at a red light.

"What's your deepest, darkest secret?"

"Just that, Kevin. A secret." She glared at him, but he only smirked because he could tell that she was a private person, and he wanted to see if she would be a good sport or talk.

Grumbling, she unbuckled her seat belt and wiggled out of her windpants. Kevin's eyes traveled up her tanned, athletic legs that were still partially encased in a pair of spandex shorts.

While she tossed the pants over her shoulder, she realized that Kevin wasn't the only one watching her movements.

An elderly lady in the next car stared at Michelle with a shocked look on her face. But when her gaze shifted to Kevin, Michelle burst out laughing.

"Kevin! That little old lady next to me is checking you out!"

The tall man's eyes traveled from Michelle's legs to the car next to theirs and caught the lady's interested glance. The light changed, so Kevin gave the lady a quick smile and sped away.

* A few miles down the road *

"You can stop laughing now, Michelle." Kevin stared intently at the road ahead of them as Michelle tried to contain her girlish giggles.

"What would you have done if the light hadn't changed just then?"

"Is that your next question?"

"Sure, why not. So what would you have done?"

Kevin thought for a moment. "Probably just smiled at her like I did."

A voice on the radio caught Michelle's attention. "This is Sara Wilson, at WCHC with some good news for BSB fans! The pilot's strike is temporarily on hold, and flights are up and running. Looks like stranded Backstreet Boy Kevin Richardson will make it here on time for those concerts after all. It's 4:32am and the current temperature is 61 degrees with today's high around 82 degrees. Manny D will be here with the traffic report right after this song. Michi, I know you're out there and listening. Lucky girl, this one's for you."

As the opening strains of Jordan Knight's 'Give it to you' flowed through the car, Michelle started laughing. "Sara knows that you are with me."
