Ode to Melli
Faye had an idea for Mel's birthday when she came home one day
So she dropped a line to good 'ol JQ, to see what she had to say
"A birthday party in Yahoo! Chat." was actually the original plan
And a fanfic about the 3 of them and some certain members of their fave band
The 2 girls let a couple of days pass, and then came to a conclusion
"Scratch the chat, 'cause Yahoo! sux and will only cause confusion."
Faye and JQ thought long and hard about all that could be done
To make Melli's 19th birthday a fun and memorable one
They finally came up with the idea to have some peeps write in
JQ sent a plea via Mel's mailing list ( I must have received, like, 10!)(no, just 2....)
The plea read "A simple birthday message for our good friend, Mel."
(And that they'd beat them within an inch of their life if any one of them should tell!)
Now, at the time they had no place to post them, but JQ is rather bright
And through her, the idea was born: They'd make a birthday site!
They'd use JQ's site to post it, putting her in charge
Faye became co-chairman 'cause the main job was too large
JQ got things set up and Faye sent her things they could use
(Mel, you thought I flooded YOUR email? You should have seen JQ's!)
Faye sent pictures and soundwaves (things that take up lots of space....)
JQ picked and sorted through them all and put them into place
The fanfic was the next step that they needed to work on
But, once they started on it, that's when things started going wrong
Faye was stoked with homework by teachers ( now she's out to wring their necks!)
While JQ busied herself with throwing her back out and getting in car wrecks
The following week, Faye had u.i.l., so was never home, you see
And JQ went back to school ( 'cause the girl's just plumb crazy!)
They managed to keep themselves real busy as the days ticked down to the event
But they still were able to work on their gift, without giving Mel the slightest hint
But alas, trouble reared it's little head as it struck the 2 again
JQ was having computer probs ( "JQ, just smash the comp screen in!")
Plus, Mel was getting suspicious and was catching on to them
Thank God her suspicions were put at rest (Thank you once again, Em!)
Soon, it became undoubtedly the truth, things wouldn't be done by April 1st
Faye and JQ just sighed and kept working (surely things couldn't get any worse.)
But, apparently they could, 'cause the next day Faye was feeling sick
And JQ was going to so many NSTINK concerts, it was getting pathetic
Saturday night the two sat down, determined to get things done
"Do it for Melli!" was their battle cry, and soon their war was won
The two sat back and admired the artistry they'd put into their work
"Pretty good in such a SHORT amount of time." Faye said with a smirk
Now, sit back and think about it folks, why all the trouble just for Mel?
'CAUSE IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY, SISTA, WE CARE ABOUT YOU LOTS,
(AND WE COULDN'T FIND YOU A CAMEL!)
